The "Mosque" at "Ground Zero"

I’m glad you get all your political beliefs from an obviously Liberal comedian. What are you trying to say?

Whoa, whoa, whoa back up.

What says that moderate Muslims oppose this? Some do, yes. But as a whole, do you have anything that says this?

I live right outside *ing New York City dumbass… my uncle was part of NYFD and died in 9/11, and I can tell you, he would be ashamed of his country if he saw what was happening. most people who oppose it are conservative bigot ****s, they have as much right to the hallowed land that is the Burlington coat factory as anyone else.

How about we build some ground zeroes next to mosques in the middle east?

/end sarcasm

In the end it’s sensitivity (natural human reaction) vs. idealistic freedom

I think many would.

My sympathies for your uncle. Sincerely.

Sensitivity to what though? People are overreacting. Those who want to build the community center should not have to concede due to other people’s ignorance.

“What says that moderate Muslims oppose this? Some do, yes. But as a whole, do you have anything that says this?”

As a whole do you have anything that says moderate Muslims don’t oppose this? Stop speaking for all Muslims. I know Muslims who are not for this but you’re making it seem as if all Muslims feel the same way. So what do you say to the Muslims who don’t agree with you? Are they conservative bigots according to Sanningen? Did they’re family and friends not die from 9/11? Are they intolerant towards their own religion?

I didn’t. I wasn’t the one who said that moderate Muslims oppose this.

I know many who support it. I only know one who opposes it.

Neither you nor I can speak for most Muslims, which is why I asked how you knew this.

And no, I don’t think anyone who opposes this are bigoted. I think those who wish to stop it are going against what this country prides itself on, but I do not fault anyone for their opinion.

We should build a church at Mecca.

No reasonable people are saying that they should have to. Lots of people are saying that they should choose to, which is a very different thing.

^^If anyone tried to build anything other than a mosque there they would never be seen again.

“I think those who wish to stop it are going against what this country prides itself on”
This country prides itself on the Freedom of Religion which is what we have always had.
People who do not want this center being built are not against religious tolerance nor do they deny the right for someone to worship whomever. It’s just a sensitivity issue. Also, the Imam behind this cannot be trusted.

I don’t see how getting into semantics is going to change the argument.

How exactly is it different… I’m not really understanding?

^^ I’m still waiting for something that says moderate Muslims oppose this.

I’ve already repeatedly answered the rest of your post.

^^^ It’s a sensitivity issue that shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. It’s been pointed out that

It is not a mosque.

It is not on ground zero

What is it that people are having a problem with then?

People are having issues with it, because they have been mislead to believe that it IS a mosque being built ON ground zero.

Anyway, but since it IS an issue now, simply moving the center a few more blocks away isn’t going to solve the underlying problem. I’m not saying building the community center there would solve anything either.

But, I see absolutely no reason why they should have to or should choose to concede.

“I’m still waiting for something that says moderate Muslims oppose this.”
You are not going to find anything that says moderate Muslims oppose this because some do and some don’t - it’s a mix. Author Raheel Raza opposes it and she’s a muslim - that’s one example if that’s what you are looking for. Once again look into Imam Rauf. Maybe if an honest, truly moderate Muslim wanted this community center to be built it wouldn’t be so bad. But I’m sorry, I don’t care if Raouf was white, black, Christian, you name it, I would not want him to build anything in this country. Look him up.

I don’t see anything wrong with him. He looks fine.

As a celebrity recently said, “there is no difference in saying ‘you can build your mosque, but you can’t build it here’ than saying 'you can sit on the bus, but you must sit in the back.”

It’s absurd. Muslims are not terrorists. Terrorists are terrorists-regardless of their ethnicity or religion. It’s a terrible stereotype.

Terrorist blew up buildings bc in the name of islam. Would u build a Japanese cultural center at pearl harbor? A German cultural center on Auschwitz? Or even a church at Sbreinka

Just because the terrorists on 9/11 were Muslims, it doesn’t mean that all Muslims need to suffer or be stereotyped against. Few American-Muslims condone what happened on 9/11. They shouldn’t face any prejudice.

yeah not all japense people were bad. not all christains murdered bosnian muslims, and not all germans killed jews. Still doesnt make it right. Common sense
