The most ridiculous tshirt question ever...

I get panicky a lot and this is a really stupid question...
but if I never got a free tshirt from UofC, I'm not automatically doomed right? There's equality between those with tshirts... and those left behind in the eyes of admissions

No I don’t think it matters. First, we don’t know if they even sent out t shirts. Did you get other stuff like a pennant, sunglasses?

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. S1 never received a t-shirt or sunglasses, just a few of the fun postcards. He is now happily in his second year at UChicago.

I have no real knowledge on this, but I wonder if it could be linked to those who were interviewed? Did you receive an interview?

Yeah I did an interview
but I’ve never received a pendant or sunglasses; just big envelopes with posters and postcards

What? T-shirt? What does that even mean?

My kid did not interview last year, did get a t-shirt prior to acceptance EA. I think it came shortly after she sent in her SAT scores (she sent them in the fall) but before her application went in. No idea if that was a triggering event…

if i dont get anything, not even postcards…

I didn’t either, havealilfaith, I think they send out that stuff to people who had already sent them PSAT, SAT or ACT scores. I don’t think it has to do with what the actual score is, just the demonstrated interest before senior year (I only discovered UChicago this year)

I got a tshirt… What if they think they’ve given me enough and decide not to give me acceptance?! I don’t want to seem spoiled…

From what I understand, they sent the tshirts out before they saw any apps. I don’t think it would make sense for it to have anything to do with admissions. Even if some went out after applications, I don’t see why the schools would basically send out an admissions hint, that would just make their job that much harder and much more complicated.

I don’t know about you, but I personally did get a t-shirt. Though, to be fair, it was a significant time after I signed up. (I believe I asked for one around late August/early September, and it only came in towards the beginning of this month). However, I’m extremely grateful for it. It’s a great shirt, and the surprise is also very fun. I hope it works out well for you!
(Additional info: I had both interviewed and visited, and in general done everything I could to indicate interest)
