Got a mail by post today, inviting me to join...the catch is, I have to pay 60$, so..does anyone know what do they do and is the membership worth paying?

If anyone had experience with them, please elaborate.

I'm international so I don't really understand these society thingies. xDD

My friend’s older brother was involved with that. He got a T-shirt from it. Now, my friend wears that T-shirt. He’s pretty sure that’s all he got out of it.

The National Society of High School Scholars offers a lot of great benefits. Like most membership organizations, a fee is charged to help cover the organizational costs of fulfilling the mission of the Society. For those students who elect to join, the $60 fee is one-time only. NSHSS also offers fee waivers to families that are suffering from financial hardship. NSHSS feels that the membership fee and its payment should never stands in the way of a qualified student becoming a member.

NSHSS offers scholarship opportunities that are exclusive to our members. Those scholarships range from $250 to $5,000. To date, NSHSS has given out over $1 million in scholarships.

NSHSS also has member events. Those member events are open to all members and their immediate family at no charge. Mr. Nobel participates in the events as a featured speaker, and also meets and greets members. Advisory board members are invited to attend (participation depends on their individual schedules). NSHSS travels from coast to coast with Mr. Nobel, recognizing students, connecting with college admissions officers from the top universities, and perusing career fairs with exhibits from outstanding corporations.

Aside from the member events and scholarships, NSHSS offers leadership opportunities through the Ambassador Program. Our Ambassadors advocate awareness of NSHSS in their high schools and they are required to design and execute a volunteer project focusing on environmental awareness.

Pandabear57 -NHS has nothing to do with NSHSS, therefore the directors of NHS would not be able to help at all. However, most people are saying this is a scam so I would trust them.
