The National Society of High School Scholars

I got some letter in the mail about me being a member of this if i py 45 dollars, does anyone knwo anything about it?

It's a scam, don't waste your money on this resume padder.

Supposedly it's just a scam.
There are at least a dozen threads about this in the past week. Check them out.

yeah, its a scam. if something just right up front asks you for 46 dollars, it's a scam.

Got the same letter today, definately wouldn't waste my money on it though.

Got the same thing sophomore and junior year. It's a scam.

Got the same letter today, I immediately put it in the shredder.

Ha I remember this one from last year. Isn't it the one with all the fluff about Alfred Nobel and prestige of their recommendation letters and such? I tossed it, but it's pretty sad that I know people that think they're getting some sort of advantage.

^^^ yeah, that's the one. I tossed mine out a few days ago.

They have esteemed people on their panel though. So I wouldn't call it a 'scam'.

It's not a scam. There are certain events and advantages to it, but for the most part, it is DEFINITELY useless.

...aren't there like a bunch of scholarships that it opens the doors too? like project abroad and stuff...

it opens the door to nothing. they send it basically to everyone who takes the psat and gives their information.

Sounds like the CollegeBoard, if you ask me. ;)

^
lol nice one

Not a scam, just useless. You can get a scholarship, but it's like a lottery drawing.

it's not a scam!

I paid 45 bucks. They gave me a year book with pictures of people I have never seen before. Also, they told me I won a 3000 dollars scholarship! Week later I called them to ask why I haven't received my check yet. Their response? The person with name (JaiXX dXXXX , VERY UNIQUE NAME BY THE WAY) in Texas has cashed the check. ***? This is what happened to me with this B.S. Conartists, they shall burn in heellllll! (woo, I am getting too excited.. I should go to bed..)

My friend didn't appear for SAT or PSAT. Still got an invitation.

strange .

Wow, very weird. I took the SAT frosh year and have been inundated with mail from those types of "organizations" ever since.
