the new facebook change

everyone likes the old things until they get used to the new ones.

they changed it because it's had that layout for awhile now, and cause it's just an improvement on the old one. simple as that. seriously, i love the new layout, took me like 10 minutes to get used to it.

but then when you click on ur friends and see who's currently logged in, you can see them. There's no way to prevent it. That's like an easier way to stalk :D

I reallly like the new set up...

...but I still don't like that high school students and everyone else can get an account. I had to wait to get one, so it's only fair for them to have to wait (or do without) as well. Oh well...I still love Facebook :(

does anyone else think facebook encourages stalking?

Seriously, you can see when someone's online, your facebook mini-feed tells you exactly what all of your friends do while on facebook, and you can even view a wall to wall between two of your friends, thus stalking them in all their facebook activities... it's just plain creepy...

^ you do realize Myspace had the "Online Now" function for years. also, Facebook had the "Friends Online" capability for a while, but it was obscured, so much so that i didn't find out about it until recently (but before the format change).

Facebook is only as stalkerish as you want it to be. if people really didn't want things to be known about them, they 1) could turn off almost anything they wanted in their privacy settings, 2) just not use Facebook. by using Facebook and putting things on your profile, you implicitly (but still willingly) agree to the fact that you will be sharing your information. IMO, stalking is going beyond the normal capabilities of the medium to find out things about people. otherwise, it may be just a little weird, but not creepy. and i think despite the fact that a lot of people say that they don't want people to know certain things about them, again, the very fact that they are on Facebook means that they're implicitly asking for a little attention, or else they wouldn't create a profile, at least without anything meaningful on it.

I like the networks statistics. Fun to look at. Otherwise the changes are ehh.

I don't mind the changes.
it took a while to get used to it, but it's pretty easy to find things now.

I'm a high school senior (graduating in just over a month) and I just got a Facebook a few months ago. I love it. Sooo much better than MySpace. I don't think it'll ever be as horrible as MySpace simply because there's not much room for modification. You don't HAVE the opportunity to toy with your profile to try to make yourself look cooler than you are. There are no candy-coated pre-teens trying to make friends with the big kids.

I don't mind the changes to Facebook...It's not really an IMPROVEMENT. It's just different.
