Shame on you, it's Penn, not UPENN!

huh? people call it upenn, and my fav derivation jewpenn

well on a forum saying just penn can lead to quite some confusion, thus why UPenn started. besides, their website IS upenn.edu, not penn.edu :)

yea... exactly!!!! thumbs up to celeb

Heads up to all you RD people - Calling Penn UPenn is a pet peeve of Dean Stetson. He even mentioned it in an interview this past year! Call it Penn or University of Pennsylvania in those essays!

^of course. I think the point is online, especially on cc, it's hard to differentiate between PSU and Penn so UPenn makes it clear. I would never do that in an essay- obviously. Though I have issues spelling Pennsylvania haha :)

yeah wow i called penn, UPenn, like six times in my essay...
anyway, im gonna be so depressed tomorrow that i'll probably quit this forum...

Honestly, I don't really think it matters that much if you call it UPENn blue mouse. If in the interview you talked about Penn and its specialties then i'm sure the adcoms can differentiate

collegecountdown: I wish I'd know that before my GC had me change all the "Penn"s in my essay to "UPenn"s..........sigh

Sorry to aggravate you guys at this late date. Despite what I said, I promise it won't make or break you - that's something you learn when you get to this area.

Re en Kam - What part of PA are you from?

Right near Penn.....maybe like, 20-30 minutes away? Around there...

Same here.

To the east or west? South or north? I think I'm just north...

oh well I tried that before and it didn't work lol I dont know why it does now. I could swear I accidently typed in penn.edu this summer and it didn't work gosh darnit! :p
