what New SAT score with about a 4.3 GPA will get me into UCLA? ( If your not sure, ballpark it!)

This is ballparking as well, but here's some estimates:

1700 - 17%
1800 - 25%
1900 - 30%
2000 - 42%
2100 - 64%
2200 - 77%
2300 - 90%

These may be slightly high, as minorities get in with lower SATS, etc. Your essays, ECs still make a difference. If you are in one of the top brackets don't assume you're in, but you are in good shape.

My ballpark figure is 2100.

3.9+uw/4.3weighted and a 2200 sounds about right.

no need to intimidate the guy. UCLA avg is 1290...which converts to abt 1920.

stambliark41:

The average SAT I score for UCLA admits is 1347.

The average SAT I score for UCLA matriculants, which I think you are referring to, is 1289 (last updated 2002).

Furthermore, the original poster was inquiring about a score that would get him into UCLA, so the ballpark score would likely have to be more of a match rather than a slight reach.

I thought the UCLA average was 1340-1350 on the old SAT I...

Fair enough. Nevertheless, do the percentages I posted seemed accurate?

I just felt it was a bit hash to say a 3.9+UW / 2200 (1480) SAT would be necessary to have a "good shot" at UCLA.

I was not trying to say 1920 would by any means be a good score in terms of UCLA.

oh, well a good shot meaning 80% .. sorry if i scared anyone with that, i was about to post "i take that back.. i think 2100 is good enough" but they had a limit of 60seconds per post so i was like "eh forget it".. thanks for correcting me stambliark.. :)

however always shoot for the 80th percentile, not an average

haha samurai we have the same idea then.

i said 2200 - 77%

you said 2200 - 80%.

i don't think we need to argue about that difference. :)

Reasonabledad, UCLA's mean SAT score (in one sitting) for entering students is roughly 1290-1310, depending on the year. the 1340-1350 figure you are alluding to is the average SAT score of the students admitted...not of the students who entroll.

Alexandre ~ Thanks, I had not realized the distinction!

So what is the total score of the sat ?...and how many score that is required for UCLA...and how about GPA....I need 3.9-4.0 right?...because I have 3.6 right now....and how can I get GPA 4.3 or more...I'm just wondering....but I"m still a freshmen so I just worry too much ...but I took SAT last year but I don't feel like I got a perfect score....I got scared about going to college(about next 3 more year -_-)....but I'm really scared about it....

is that UC GPA or what? What scale is it on? What is the maximum weighted GPA?

Keep in mind that as of right now the UCs use not only the SAT I, but they also require SAT IIs and take the highest two scores.

Plus as Alexandre points out, the UCs only take the highest single sitting score for the SAT rather than the best multiple sitting score. This is why the SAT scores reported for the UCss are so low relative to their average GPA when compared to schools in the midwest and back east. The single sitting score probably costs the average student about 50 points total in SAT score.

For the details on how UCs compute their numbers visit this site:
