The New School or Indiana University?

I appreciate the second perspective! That’s sort of my line of thinking in wanting to take my offer at the the school in NYC. Of course, I don’t intend to stay in a small town for my entire life and hope to move wherever I please post-college or perhaps if I were to transfer, but it would be nice to cut the wait time and just go straight away. The location is my main draw with that school, though, as I guess is obvious.

Again, I appreciate and will consider this second perspective when I have to make my decision tonight! Thank you!

Oh, interesting! I hadn’t considered summer programs all that much so that’s definitely a great thing to think about. Also, I do plan to take advantage of the study abroad programs! As far as the staff disorganization, this is my first hearing of that and it does worry me a bit…I’ve been getting a general feeling about that, but the confirmation of those feelings is a little worrying should I accept their offer.

Thanks for mentioning both things, though! Definitely appreciate you mentioning the staff as well as the summer program thing. I’ll take it all into consideration while I make my decision!

It seems that you have very little time to decide but there are people on the music page who have info on the Jazz programs at New School and IU, maybe move this post there. They can give you much more information about the specific programs.

I will say, despite being a little iffy on the small town bit I really do love the people I got to talk to over there. All super friendly and definitely very intelligent and well-spoken. The campus and town are both really beautiful.

I’ve definitely looked into specifically the painting program and I figure if I were to specialize in anything at their art school that would be it.

I got the same impression of the music school based on what my teacher has told me. I’ve heard if you’re hanging around the music school’s community it becomes much more like a “small” college despite having such a large music program.

Money shouldn’t be an issue since I got a pretty good scholarship; Indiana actually comes out as more expensive on paper. That being said, I’m not sure how extra costs outside of the school might change my perspective on that but I think I should be good given my financial situation combined with my own spending habits.

And finally, I wish I could edit my post in regards to the part about my mom; I had a talk with her last night before I went to sleep about all of this stuff, college and everything, and it turns out it was just a miscommunication and me misreading her feelings towards me getting vaccinated or getting an exemption. It basically landed on the fact that she would support my decisions regardless of which school I go to and regardless of whether or not I choose to get vaccinated for COVID. All of that being said, I’ve been relieved of a lot of my resentment and stress relating to getting vaccinated and am happy that I have a sure-thing with going to whatever college I end up choosing. It was a mistake on my part to assume she felt the way I thought she did, but I’m glad it got resolved.

Thank you so much for the reply! It definitely reminded me of how nice the campus is and how well I got along with the other students I met there.

Oh, I didn’t even know about that part of the forums. I’ll definitely at least skim through it to see if anyone has mentioned either school. Thanks for letting me know!

Also, neglected to mention but I’ll definitely look into that. I didn’t know about them having it!

I’m glad you got some of your questions answered and had a talk with your mom. Best of luck to you.
