The New School or Pace University?

I want another fallback university in New York city and I was looking into these two universities. I'm pretty sure they're both safeties for me, but I'm wondering which has a better reputation.

My major would be Culture and Media and a minor in French or Spanish. I want to live in the dorms at the school and I want to be around people who are serious and motivated.

Which is better, overall?

Pace U is an average school with less selective admissions, except for the Lubins Business School which is well respected. No experience with the other.

my sister went to pace so im going to be a bit biased.
it has a good buisiness program, and it was a pretty school for the most part.
ID SAY GO WITH PACE!

Any other opinions?

New school because that school seems funky and awesome

I have a friend who teaches at Pace in the humanities. He says it’s OK. Not Columbia or NYU but a reasonable place to go for a serious student who wants to live in Manhattan.

new school. pace isn’t so good.

Neither are top notch (ie NYU or Columbia) It really depends on what you are looking for in a school. Pace is a big theatre school, i believe that the New School is better for other types of art like fashion and media. Are you considering Fordham? It’s not in Manhattan, but it is definitely better than Pace and the New School, but still beneath Colombia and almost up to par with NYU.

So a media major should probably go with The New School? I feel like I like that school better but I keep getting mixed reviews. I feel like I constantly hear that PACE isn’t such a good school.

Why don’t you check out Hunter College, and City College? Also, Parson’s Eugene Lang? Those are better schools and may very well have the programs you are interested in. Especially Eugene Lang.

One important thing about city colleges is that they do not have residence halls. You can’t live on campus so they don’t have the same type of community as other schools, they are strictly commuter schools.

Eugene Lang is part of the New school. Hunter is already on the top of my list, but I was looking for other “safety” new york city schools to apply to.
