the New School?

OK, I have a question for everyone. What do any of you know about the Eugene Lang New School for Liberal Arts, aka the New School? I know where it is, and I know about it's educational philosophy, but what do students who go there say about it?

Well, I have an acquaintance whose S is a sophomore at Lang studying creative writing and she says he loves it, and my D has a close friend who is in the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music and he is also very happy, having transferred in from a LAC. My S also auditioned there just last Sunday for jazz performance, but because it is not one of his top choices, I did not investigate it as thoughly as some of his other choices, even though he did apply to the joint BA/BFA program with Lang.

Thanks spelmom. My S applied to Columbia (a reach. 3.43 uw GPA, 4.04 w; but his boards are great 1490 old SAT with 800 v; and 2210 new SAT, 7 APs, four 4s, one 3 (Spanish Lang) two yet to be taken. National Merit Commended Student. AP scholar with distinction. award winning cartoonist. if not for a couple of Cs in advanced math courses Columbia wouldn't be such a reach). Anyway, he also applied Fordham LC and the New School. his cousin's fiance went there and loved it. I think he will get into both, so now I am thinking (prematurely) which is best for him. he, too, is very interested in majoring in creative writing, combining that with political science, and art (the cartooning) thing, and maybe the New School is a better environment for that then Fordham what with its core curriculum and all. Just wondering.
