Hello everyone, new user here! I’ve become more interested in MHC as of late and while I was doing research about the school I came across the “Nexus Program”. I thought it was interesting since there has been so much debate lately over how to bridge the gap between the liberal arts and real world experience, which the programs seems to try to accomplish. I was just wondering if there is anyone who has been in/is in the program and what their experience was like? Did you find it useful? Was it tedious/boring? Did it help round out your resume while job searching?
I have the same question. I’m interested in the journalism nexus program but I’m not entirely sure how it works and how it compares to real journalism programs. I’m visiting at the end of this month so I’m hoping I will get more information.
I have the same question! Bump.
From what I understand, a Nexus basically functions as an interdisciplinary minor with a mandatory internship component. When I get back to school, I’ll ask around to find out if I can find anyone who has had experiences, good or bad, with the program. (I’m a first year, and most of my friends are still considering their academic interests). MHC’s FAQ for the program is here: https://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/nexus/faq, in case you missed it. Note that the program director’s email is in the sidebar. You can contact the program director with specific questions related to each track - since they all have different track chairs and goals, they probably vary significantly. Hope this was somewhat helpful!
Same question here. @FireflyLights thank you so much!!
