the nice and the mean admissions people

I am sure we have all called admissions for whatever reasons and I was wondering if most of the places you all have called had nice and helpful people on the other end and which had mean and unhelpful people on the other end. I guess I'll start:

Boston University - Very nice and helpful
NYU - Most of them are *s and are unhelpful
SMU - I sensed a bit of arrogance (after all, it is in highland park, the rich area of dallas) but they were nice and helpful overall.
Boston College - *
s, guy even hung up on me.
Purdue - Very nice.
W&M - Some old lady that didn't know anything about the school; oblivious and unhelpful

trace.....I feel the exact same way about NYU!!

tracem - interesting topic. It is always surprising to me how aloof admissions folks can be on the other end of the phone. No apparent empathy for the folks on the "supplicant" end. FWIW, I was talking with the GC secretary at my S' hs the other day about sending his transcript again to one school - she called and said she got a very nice person on the other end, and said that she found that quite rare at Admissions Offices these days.

UMich- nice, at least to the hs GC office

add in:
USC--super NICE, helpful and responsive!!!!

UMich-- this one guy had no idea and didn't know anything in regards to the 3-year BBA application. gave me wrong info, etc.

That's funny about Boston College... I called the law school of BC once for my husband, and the guy was rude and hung up on me too!

I had a different experience with a BC rep. Granted it was with the financial aid department to pick up more grant money, but the lady I spoke to was pretty helpful and nice.
Georgetown: The best and the most helpful people I've talked to.
UMich: The rep wasn't bad, but she was pretty confused for most of the conversation and had to ask others to answer most of my questions.

+1 for columbia. i called and though i had to wait a whole 25 seconds, the guy promptly answered my question.
