The October CHEMISTRY SATII Discussion

Eh, the question asked which piece of lab equipment was "useful in separating" a sand and salt mixture, which a funnel undoubtedly is. The wording of the question was quite bad, but just Googling "sand and salt" with "water trough" (in quotes) yields no relevant results, while "sand and salt" with "funnel" immediately gives several results on how to separate such a mixture. I'm pretty sure the funnel was the answer.

It was sand and salt, not salt solution. It seems that you need water to seperate it, and e is the only choice with water. Is that thing really a "water trough" or does it have some other name?

I dunno, and at this point, it's too late to do anything about it anyway. So let's not worry about it ^_^

funnel is "useful in separating" in seperating sand and salt. No one uses funnel without water. So water is just assumed to be used in the process.

does curve being 'bad' mean that scores wouldn't come out as high as before ??

yeah...or at least that's how i've been using it
