The Official 2011 UC to UC Transfer thread

@DrAhumada: Thanks for the link. I have actually taken some art and art history classes and have a core GPA (in art-related classes) of about a 3.8. I am UC-transfer-eligible and have completed all general education at UCI (so I will obtain a Letter of Reciprocity for that soon.) I will probably be admitted to the studio art major there about a month and a half early, and I am currently taking classes for that major right now, with plans to continue that course of study into spring. The timing was not great (since my need to transfer to San Diego was precipitated by personal circumstances over which I have no control), but I do have a strong academic history in major-related courses, and I will have the equivalent about the first year and a half of core art courses at UCI complete by the time I transfer, although there don’t seem to be any specific prerequisites for a studio/visual arts major at either university.

Thanks for the advice!

november bump, let’s see who else is out there!

Can anyone tell me how negatively/positively a Pass as opposed to a potential B in a non-major class I’m taking for a GE will effect admission into Berkeley? I’m considering this because anything less than an A- would dramatically drop my GPA.

im trying to transfer from ucsd to ucb. will finish prereqs this quarter. i have a lot of units (130 after this quarter including 36 ap units) although its only my second year attending ucsd.
gpa: 3.5 current (3.6 after this quarter) 3.8 major
ecs: summer software development internship, volunteer tutoring for CS classes

can anyone chance me? will berkeley care about cumulative a lot, or mostly about major gpa? thanks

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

man this thread died out fast. are there anymore UC to UC transfers out there?

Applying from: UC Davis
Applying to: UC Berkeley
Major: Political Science, Economics
GPA: 3.80
Pre-reqs: Should be finished with the bunch before the end of soph year

How practical is it to even think of transferring from UCD to Berkeley?

What is the selectivity for either Cal’s polisci and econ?

Applying from: UCR
Applying to: UCB, UCSD, UCI, UCLA
Pre-reqs: Should be done by spring quarter. Although I don’t think i can finish my breadth requirements.
Major: Applied to Mathematics (computational/applied on some campuses)
GPA: Cumulative 3.564 // math/physics alone is 3.95

Do I have any shot of any of these schools?

from UCR
to either UCSD or UCLA
GPA 3.86, poli sci major
pre reqs= nearly finished by the time i (hopefully) transfer
ecs= internship, job with uc pd, club board member
hopefully decisions will be out soon enough so I can see what my chances are of actually getting accepted lol

^^ Why didn’t you apply to Cal? It has an awesome Poli. Sci. Department. Using some metrics it is second only to Harvard.

i know how great their program is, only reason I didnt is because Im from socal and definitly want to stay down here
maybe this thread will pick back up now :)

Let’s start with a chance shall we?

UCD -> UCB (political science and hopefully economics)

GPA: 3.7
ECs: Model United Nations, International Relations Student Association, Roosevelt Student Network, UCD Fencing
Experience: Research assistant for 2 quarters, Unitrans driver, Davis Honors Challenge

UC Reciprocity
Completed both major prereqs

Decisions should be out soon!

Coming from UCR
Major: Chemistry B.S.
Applied to UCLA and UC Berkeley
GPA: 3.82 (4.00 in Chemistry)
I wrote a phenomenal essay and did a small research project that I mentioned in my essay. What are my chances? Specifically for Cal, seeing as they are the #1 program in Chemistry

soooooo, anyone else here gettting super impatient for UCSD to send out notifications?!?!?!?!?
lol, btw, ive noticied a lot of other ucr transfers, like myself

I got in today!!!

UCR TO UCSD
POLITICAL SCIENCE
3.84
NO UC TO UC RECIPROCITY!

good luck everyone!!!

@ kobeftw
that makes 2!!!
got in from ucr to ucsd…poli sci 3.86 gpa
go us!! haha

Good luck guys. Many (most) of you should get in where you want if you completed the pre-reqs and have solid grades. I transferred from UCSC-Cal last year and it has changed my life. Try to stay calm during these very stressful/exciting days.

Nothing yet… I’m expecting for the worst :(

When you say completed prereqs by spring , you mean spring quarter…?? Or winter quarter? (cc only has spring semester while uc has winter and spring to consider)

Ahhhh i didn’t get my ucsd results today…■■■ I’m worried ucr to ucsd transfer economics major :(
