Hey @kobeftw, I think you should call admissions and ask. Also I was wondering if you took any other transferable math or is statistics the only math you have planned???

Thanks!!

Could someone explain to me the pre req’s for UC to UC transfer? and the process of it?
I’m going to UCR next year, and it looks like transferring may be a very real thing I may do in the future, and I just want to know what I have to do, should I decide to do a UC to UC transfer. Thank you!

UCSD ----> UCB

College: Letters of Science

Major: Physics

GPA: 3.92 major: 3.97

Reason: Allergic to sunlight and heat.

Hey UCSD people who got accepted, what were your admission condition?

^ congrats!

my contract says cumulative 3.0 and at least 2.0 in UC approved courses for winter and spring quarter.

Hey Kobe, do you think that contract would be the same for UC Berkeley also?

And also… I am at UCSD trying to go into Berkeley. I haven’t gotten in yet… I am dying to…

@jooliakgook yeah. stats was the only math class that I listed on my application. the portion on the application that asks you if you will have finished math by spring quarter is primarily for CC students finishing IGETC.

@initialfirst yeah. i think your contract would be pretty similar.

@mdinh6 pre-reqs depend on your major. they are usually the lower division classes for that particular major. each UC has different pre-reqs so it’s important to go to their website and find them. Doing a UC to UC transfer isn’t impossible. You just have to get a high GPA and finish pre-reqs.

@kobeftw so are you taking stats right now or are you planning to?? Sorry if you already mentioned it…Also, do you need math completed if you’re a uc to uc transfer?? Thanks, again!

@Julia I have it planned for summer 2011. I don’t think math is necessary for admissions but once again it depends on your major. Obviously if you are a math or bio major you need some sort of math to be a competitive applicant. In my case I was poly sci so math wasn’t necessary.

@kobeftw did you have all your prereqs done?? I noticed you said you’re taking stats over summer, I was planning on taking stats spring quarter but I might take it over summer… I wonder what the uc would do?? Let me know if you call and ask? Thanks

@kobeftw yeah I’m hoping for film and media at UCI… So no math for that, hopefully it won’t affect my acceptance. Good job on getting ucsd!! What uc are you at now and what’s your gpa???

Currently at ucr with a 3.8. Finishing my last prereq this quarter.

@kobeftw Thanks for fast and precise reply. I hope you the best of luck with our college admissions. Also, can you post your status on here?

Hey Kobeftw, I’m also a poli sci major at UCR. I got accepted to UCSD, but I haven’t taken a math course yet because CHASS allows us to take a CS class to satisfy the requirement. Do you know for sure if we need to take a math course to keep our admission to UCSD valid? Also, did you finish all of your GE’s for CHASS? Thanks

@initialfirst No problem. I don’t really know what status means but I think you want to know where I have applied and been accepted? I applied to UCI, UCSB, UCSD, UCLA, and UCB. Got accepted to UCSD, and pending everywhere else.

@Turtle You get accepted based on what you put on your application. If you didn’t put a math classes in progress or planned and still got admitted, then I assume UCSD doesn’t require you to take one. However, if you did list a math class on your application, your admissions is contingent upon you completing that course. With that said, I think you should call the school and make sure this is the case. I don’t want to give you a wrong answer.

To answer your second question, I didn’t complete all my CHASS GE’s. Still need two more years of Spanish.

Thanks Kobeftw. I’m actually in the same boat as you. I finished everything but spanish -_- so no reciprocity for me. Did you say that you were planning on taking a math course on your application?

@kobeftw Sorry for such an ambiguous question. I meant to ask for your GPA and major etc. Thanks. If you do not want to share the information, that is totally fine too.

@initialfirst

School: ucr
Gpa: 3.84
Major: political science
UC reciprocity: no
EC’s: honors program, leadership on 2 clubs, coach bball.

i’m at ucsc and I want to go to UCLA as a business econ major but I heard it’s really hard to get admitted…would I be better off applying under a different major and changing majors? Also, what kind of GPA should I be looking at if I want to go to:
UCI, UCSD, and UCLA?

also…if it comes to this would I be better off dropping out of ucsc and going to cc? I’m currently a freshman here

@powerarm end ucsc successfully. Then go to a ccc if you’re set on ucla or other uc’s. Get a high gpa for ucla definitely is a must. Don’t try to stay at ucsc if you want a big chance at transfer . Ccc students get priority!! Make sure to follow all the GE courses your future uc wants and take your major prereq courses. Worst case if you don’t get accepted to the uc you want you can always go back to ucsc and graduate guaranteed ( if you’re in good standing) even after taking ccc classes as long as they’re transferable ( check assist.org). Submit a readmitt form to ucsc if that’s what you end up doing( which is different from an official application). Trust me this was my situation . I went to ucsb my first year, withdrew in good standing, took transferable ccc classes and I got readmitted just in case I don’t get into the uc I want for fall 2011
