Nope man, north florida

Daughter was accepted Innovation Academy (which is what she wanted – why do people check Innovation Academy if they don’t want it?)

3.6 UF GPA
2050 SAT, 740 CR, 620 M, 690 W
EC’s Girl Scout Gold Award, Internship with the USDA, Summer German Immersion Program, on board of local charity for the Florida Grand Opera, numerous honors and awards through FFA, honors related to writing poetry, etc.

Why she got in: I know my daughter’s grades were not as good as some other people’s, and we were pleasantly surprised she got in (She would not have applied but for her SAT scores). For those who are posting that it’s all about affirmative action, we are white, nonhispanic (and, yes, we are from Miami) and upper middle class. I believe the reason she got in was her essay, which was about her passionate devotion to agriculture (her intended major), as evidenced by her participation in an agriculture magnet for 4 years, agriculture internship with the USDA, doing an project for Girl Scouts to promote local organic farmers, and her involvement in FFA. UF is the only school in the state that has an agriculture major (other than FAMU), and she emphasized the fact that that was why she wanted to go to UF. Fwiw.

okay this is getting ridiculous- it’s been 4 hours!! I keep getting redirected to my “application status” which only shows what I’ve sent and not my decision- how do I fix this?!?!

Reading all these things it seems like GPA is the main thing, although a lot of these people don’t seem like they deserved to get in, no offense. Unless there’s something you’re not telling us :3

@futurescholar

You should retake the SAT and aim for an 1800 or better. Other than that you look good.

@gooner

Did you apply late? I don’t think they give decisions to those applicants on Feb 8.

THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! IT’S GREAT TO BE A FLORIDA GATOR!

I don’t understand all these people that say they got above a 5.0

Sharpeie, they probably go to schools that add 2 points for AP when weighting, but the state schools don’t do that, only one for AP, so the highest anyone could have, if EVERY SINGLE CLASS was AP, IB or DE, is 5.0. But since no one has only AP, IB, or DE classes, it has to be lower than that.

ACCEPTED :D

I didn’t really put much care into the essay (not like FSU) – typed it in 20 minutes without planning – and I was pretty “confidenceless” and um, “unsavory(?)” in the Additional Information section.

Eh, whatever. I’m going to FSU, haha.
