oohtobeagooner, UF has never been anyone’s fallback school. Their admissions process is esoteric and capricious, and I have known people who have gotten scholarships to arguably more prestigious schools, yet been turned down by UF. Maybe try UCF or USF (FSU is, at this point, impossible), but try soon because they seem to be getting pickier as the year goes on. Good luck.

does anyone know anything about OOS scholarships. when will UF notify us?

Congrats Niquii! Go Gators!

Thanks, Aero! I honestly was just going to wait and see if I got a packet, but my family wasnt having that xP Called them first thing in the morning to get it straightened out.

@jdarrow: no such thing as gettin rejected for one term but accepted for another with uf. To keep it simple, if you didn’t check IA, you would’ve been accepted for fall, right now. But because you checked IA, admissions felt you were interested in it and the opportunities it had to offer, they put you in that program because to them, they felt you’d be happy with the acceptance and term placement because you SELF SELECTED it, and you basically “gave up” your fall spring spot to that one kid who was about to be rejected due to space issues.

A lot of people have so many misconceptions about uf

rejected from OOS.

-SAT: 1910
-Nearly 20 APs and honors classes combined throughout HS
-4 yrs of field hockey, after school job for two years, bunch of clubs, model congress, etc., sports awards
-from a distinguished hs
-GPA: 3.7
-applied for aerospace engineering

i was actually pretty surprised to be rejected altogether. florida wasn’t my dream school or anything but it would’ve been a nice option. oh well

For those that did not get admitted, think about going to Sante Fe College for two years and transfer into UF. It’s not about where you start, it’s all about where you finish!

accepted oos

This thread just goes to show that it really is a crap shoot if you get in or not! I’m stunned at some of the numbers for folks who didn’t get in.

DS got in for Summer B for engineering (what he asked for)

A girl in my school got in for Fall and her stats were:
3.6 uw gpa
4.4 w gpa
23 ACT
1760 SAT

I was surprised, but her app obviously had something attractive about it. On the other hand, this guy from a different school in my county had:
3.8 uw gpa
4.5 w gpa
27 ACT
1890 SAT
Class President, President of Interact Club, 3 year make cheerleader, gymnast & track runner
& he got rejected. The decisions this year were really interesting in my opinion.

Male* cheerleader

oohtobeagooner - since you are a 3 year grad, have you sent your mid year grades in? Are you one of the students whose semester just ended and the transcripts are about to arrive? If so you’ll receive your decision around a week after your mid years being received.

Maybe that’s it? I just saw that a “transcript” was received yesterday 2/8. I’m not sure that’s the case because there was one received 1/24 and another 1/28.

Everyone accepted: Make a profile on ■■■■■■■■.com! It makes it so easy to find a roommate and the information is really detailed. It’s a great way to make sure you are with someone you can stand :)

I got into UF USF and UCF. Now time to make a choice.

You just solved your status issue. If you graduate this year, a year earlier (your junior year of HS) your an Early admissions student.

This means the state will pay all your tuition and books your first year since as your last year of high school if your local school district puts your paper work in. Actually pulling your HS diploma early voids this 1st year free ride. DE are limited to 10 credits per semester at UF, Early admits can take up to 15 I think.

Early admits are a rare breed as maybe 10 get in per year this way. This is an exceptional category. Just being a junior applying for admission puts you in this category.

So this maybe why you have not heard.

Go Gators!

Accepted, in state
4.3 hs gpa
28 ACT
2/450 class rank
Held positions in numerous clubs

Strong essay on my experience during a heart surgery
During my senior year, (this year) I did early admissions and have taken all of my classes at the local community college.
& my brothers were gators.

I’m technically a senior, so I probably don’t fall into that category. I skipped 11th grade.

Does Florida accept by college/major? Could that explain those with lower stats getting in? Were they/you applying for less competitive programs?

Right, if your transcript with midyears was just received. Your answer will come in a few days.
