Discussion On The Apush Exam

did anyone do frq # 2 about virginia and masachussets, that one was really hard. like everyone at my school answered q's 3 and 5 (the civil rights one) i did 3 and 4 (the mexican war one)
any way, i though that part B was sooooooo hard

i originally did the virginia and mass, but i didn't know ANYTHING, like it was a tremendously difficult question in terms of how economic development affected politics, so then i switched to the mexican war which was basically on explaining james polk, henry clay, and compromise of 1850, bla bla bla..as for the third essay i did the antiwar/civil rights which was really easy..

I did #2, and thought it was the easier of the two, but I still had few facts compared to my DBQ and other FRQ.

I think I did okay.
1,3,5
Used plenty of facts well maybe except about women.

1, 3, 5 as well...

I was feeling very rushed on the last essay...couldn't think of many good points regarding civil rights and the anti-war protest. I only really had two good points. wince My class just barely got to sixties and seventies. Oh, well. I just want a 4.

I did #2. I didn't think that I would, but when I saw I knew that Virginia was a tobacco economy and "textiles" came to mind when I thought about Massachusetts (shipbuilding would have been good to mention, as well, but I forgot about that). And from there I was able to work into the House of Burgesses in Virginia and then the town meeting in Massachusetts. Basically I kept thinking of things as I went, so it worked out well. I wouldn't have thought I'd be able to do a question like that, because it does seem difficult when you first look at it.

I also did #4 (the first two time periods), and I had already written an essay comparing "Old" and "New" immigrants earlier in the year, so that was pretty easy.

I did horrible on 2! Looking back, I think the best route would've been a comparison of the two most emblematic "Foudning Fathers" from those colonies - Jefferson and Hamilton.

We all know about their divergining visions for America- land of small farmers vs merchants and entirely industrialized nation. See where economic development ties in? Merchants in Mass and farmers in...Virginia. :p

How I wish I had put that on there.

For Viriginia and Massuchusetts essay portion i remembered that was during the Colonial Period

my essay for #2 was meh...the only thing I had going was a good argument about virginia nad kentucky resolutions..but after the tests i discovered they were 1798..which is not before 1750 -- i mscrewed =[

No, I'M screwed...on the Mexican War one, I dove into it without thinking and I ended up talking about Manifest Destiny...! and barely touched on the debate that went on after the cession...I pretty much talked about what went on LEADING up to and DURING the cession. ARGH. 4 pages of irrelevance.

On Mexican War one....I completely blanked out on what territory was included in the Mexican Cession, and I didn't think the territories of the 1850 Compromise were, so I didn't even talk about it. I'm thinkin 2 or 3 for the middle one.

I used Gadsden purchase, building of the transcontinental railroad, KN act(relate to railroad), wilmot proviso, compromise of 1850. I think i used more but I can't think of any right now.

I answered too specific of a question on part 1 and only used 4 out of 10 sources. Do I still stand a chance at a 5??

um. depends on your grader and the rest of your FR and MC. I think anwersing too narrowly will be a much bigger blow to your essay than only using 4/10 docs. Cross your fingers for this one, unless you did awesome on all the other parts of the test.

What did people say about the movements?

i did wilmot proviso, comp of 1850 (talked about missouri comp of 1820), bleeding kansas, sumner/brooks, douglas and pop sovereignty.

and then i did anitwar/civil rights. wasnt as good as number 3, but i got in SNCC, cambodia and Kent State, bus rides, sit ins, 1964/65 acts.

i think it was pretty good. hoping for a five...

GOSH, WHY JULY??? I CAN'T WAIT!!!

did anyone get stuff from JSA for this test?
