how was the class???

the class was pretty bad in general, i didn’t like it, and i don’t think i learned anything profound. the first professor botchan was terrible. his lectures sucked and he tested on stupid things. the second professor calendar is pretty good i guess. i don’t know tbh, you don’t have to go his lectures so i didn’t. you can get everything from the reader that you buy. the third professor berleman was pretty good, except you have to do a lot of reading on your own. he sort of just glosses over the the topics and wants you to do a close reading of the book for the details. his test was extremely painful though because he refused to tell us anything about what it would cover. the average was like a 50%.

the good thing about mcb 102 is that there is no cumulative final! only 3 midterms + quizzes/participation from discussion.

interesting…one more question: how much of ochem (3a/3b/both/neither) do you have to know? I’m thinking about taking it over the summer and my friend is thinking about taking it next semester, hence the questions haha thanks for the info though

bah, honestly, for these 3 professors at least, not much. they do ask you to look over and understand some mechanisms, but none of that stuff even appeared on the tests, so i’m just going to assume it’s probably not important for any introductory biochem class. if it did get tested by a professor, i doubt it require any in-depth o-chem knowledge anyways. you should be fine. and the mechanisms are mostly 3b-based if i remember correctly.
