The Official BMC Class of 2012 Thread

I'm so jealous of everyone that's coming from far away to the Open House/college... that must be so ridiculously exciting!

CC is freakish, but without it I wouldn't be going to Bryn Mawr. And that makes me uber grateful.

HAHA! YAY BRYN MAWR...and CC.

I can't wait for next week; it's going to be a blast; I can't think of a better way to spend my birthday!

windstarr - San Marino High. University High is that uber school near irvine right?

timorous - singapore!! o_O that must be realllllly intense!

brillar - the wait until open house is soooooo longgg!! its at the end of my spring break too!!!

froghorn - hahaha, if fa pulls through, then i get to spend my bday at bmc. three days after we move in if im not mistaken. that could be potentially a reallllly exciting thing or reallly bad thing lol ><

AHHHHH SHT GUYS SH_T. i only got 10k of fa from bmc. >< 3,500 of which are loans >< what should i doo!?!? how should i talk to the fa people?

Just call them and ask them to explain to you how they came up with the fin aid package. A few friends of mine (including myself) got really low fin aid packages to begin with. After contacting the fin aid office about it, it turned out each time that there was a wrong number in our file (e.g. an extra 0 at the value of our home). Once these mistakes are found and fixed, the fin aid packages are usually much more family-friendly :)

I know this is an extremely stressful situation but try to relax, print out a copy of your FAFSA and CSS Profile and then call Bryn Mawr. It will probably turn out all right.

I have a question! What kind of sleeping bags are you girls bringing if you're staying over in the dorms? Mine is for Singapore weather (permanently summer), which is pretty thin... would that be adequate?

The temperature in the dorms is (or should be) around 70 degrees.

I have a big wintery one and I really really wish I had a thin one- Last time I used the wintery one was at Swat back in October when we had that crazy heat wave- it was 90 degrees or something in their dorms.

And, by the way, do all the BMC dorms have air conditioning? (I thought so but I'm not sure).

Bryn Mawr DC tea tonight! So excited! I'm dressed up and ready to go meet alumnus! <3

brillar, I am afraid that none of the dorms have air conditioning. If you really want an A/C you can rent a unit, or if you have a documented medical condition you can get it for free. Most students don't have an A/C because it is only hot for a few weeks at the beginning of the fall semester.

Ah, yup, now I remember that they said to bring a fan. Gah.

Ah well, I don't have A/C at my house so it's not so much of a big deal. Just wondering. At least I have a nice box fan.

just wondering..how was oh for you barium?

oh as in Open House? I did not attend Open House last year... In fact, I never got to visit Bryn Mawr before I came for Custom's Week. I am confident that I made the right decision though :)

I am really excited about this upcoming Open House though. You should see how much the entire campus is preparing for you. We are all excited to meet the (potential) Class of 2012!

haha so advice from east coast-ers pleaseeee:

how should we pack/dress for the Open house?

Basic essentials (toothbrush, etc)...
sleeping bag
and ??clueless??

A fleece or sweatshirt, a raincoat, sneakers, jeans.

Today was GORGEOUS. But, yeah, just to be sure- definitely bring a sweatshirt/coat. Maybe umbrella, if you're the type that carries an umbrella.

Umbrellas are cumbersome. So, who's totally excited about the Open House????

i like standing in the rain

<a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1022/1105985095_4e4b63ef46_b.jpg%5B/url%5D">http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1022/1105985095_4e4b63ef46_b.jpg</a></p>

XD I'm so excited for Sunday! I'm seeing BC on saturday and am kinda hoping Bryn Mawr will blow BC away. :)

Okay, so I am guessing that none of us are umbrella people. People on the Facebook group keep saying to bring all this rain gear to college, but honestly I don't own rain boots, a rain coat, or anything like that (I have an umbrella but I never use it)- and I'm really used to PA weather. I'm more of a "get wet when it rains" sort of person, haha.

NS- Bryn Mawr is going to kick BC's butt. You sound like you have some tough choices- I'm jealous of you but then also not so jealous...

Chudiane- Haha, nothing to do with standing in the rain, but that is an ADORABLE dog.
