OK people. Spill here!

even after such a long wait, another whole week seems like a decade lol

ha everyone loves to put "official" as their thread title

Aaah, can't believe there's only one week left...it's so surreal.

Europe's "The Final Countdown" blares inside head

Having been deferred, the wait is just something I'm used to. The problem is that Yale and Tufts release decisions on the same day... ha. A potentially harrowing several hours :P

^Haha, I'm in the exact same position, Atomspatz! I really hope it won't be like REJECTION X 3 all in the span of one evening.

You never know. Maybe there will be one acceptance and it will make you forget about that pain. When I was accepted to Brown, that same day I was rejected by Stanford (tear), Columbia, and Duke; but I completely forgot about them. Try to stay positive ^^

Time passes so fast...

intunecos has the right idea. I can definitely see adopting that mindset; it would certainly make the day easier, that's for sure.

@ pFNMCp - Try being stuck at home on spring break because your Quaker school is full of loons. Time is a tortoise over here :P

My psychic powers tell me I've been rejected already.... :D

Atomspatz, esgee, I too was deferred and I too applied to Tufts and Yale as well. We definitely need to form a club of some sort. :P

Where else did you guys apply?

In descending order of God-knows-what:

Brown, Yale, Williams, Tufts, Vassar, Wesleyan, Dickinson & Tulane.

The latter two are already in the bucket. Now I hear from two more (Wesleyan/Williams) on Friday, three (Brown/Tufts/Yale) on Tuesday and Vassar, who apparently doesn't believe in the internet, sometime after Thursday.

I'm all for this club thing. Make cookies, I'll send out invitations. Esgee, you're on decoration. Where'd you apply, Verbal?

i got deferred too and of course the valedictorian at my school (who doesnt even want to go there :/) decided to apply. so of course im now screwed.

Hi all!

My name is Alicia Chen and I'm doing a story for the Brown Daily Herald about college admissions and the recession. I would love to get some opinions from applicants about it.

If you are interested in sharing your opinion, please e-mail me at alicia_chen@brown.edu about how/if the financial situation is influencing your college decision. I'd also like to conduct phone interview, so please also leave a number I could contact you at. Thanks!

Good luck with admissions and I hope to see you all at Brown next year!

Alicia

^She is really a Brown student. I just checked.

Btw Alicia, what do we get in return? (Can you please walk down to the admissions office and support our apps?)

I just got waitlisted at Chicago.
So I basically have no hope for Brown anymore.
Not that I had any in the first place.

-_-

uof chicago is ranked#8 and Brown #16 so hope is still high!! my D too was waitlisted at Chicago and her first choice is Brown and we were debating the same question!! we still think that she can make it at Brown!!!!! best of luck, keep us posted!

i was waitlisted at rice.
and the essays i used for rice were the same for Brown. so i'm totally freaking out right now. please tell me there's hope!

Good luck, guys!! I was ED, but I'll definitely be here on the big day to cheer you guys on :)

@ LaVieEnChocolat - Well, let's not obfuscate here. "Rank," as US News and World Report will have you believe it has effectively established, has little to do with admissions.

@ swang - That being said, you've still got just as good a chance as you had before. Both are very good schools which look for very different things in students. Even if what you presented wasn't 100% up Chicago's alley, it could still be exactly what Brown is looking for. Count yourself still completely in the game, but certainly don't use rank in the process. That will only depress and confuse.

@ bubbrubb - There's still hope!
