Music Major (College of L&S)
IGETC done by spring (only missing one class)
Essays were alright: technically very well-written English but I was a bit all-over-the-place in discussing my major; my passion for it came across if anything.

EC's: volunteering for a musical theatre company/working as a stagehand (w/ national stagehand's union) over the summer; parents didn't want me to work while in school full-time (I took more than a full unit load each semester) but I had a job before attending CCC full-time.

Also, I tested out high school @ 16 and started college then; I'm 18 now and applying as a junior. Hoping that may have some positive bearing on my admission?

I got into UCSB but I want to go to BERKELEY

Full IB Diploma Candidate
very competitive high school

I know my GPA is kind of low, but will getting a high SAT score (like 2200) and being full IB help my chances at getting into Berkeley?

I believe 2200 SAT is average...
And AP/IB has little impact on decisions.

I think you are a slight reach.

Honestly, my GPA was in the dumps as well, it really depends on which school you go to. My school, over 50 people went to Cal{not got in, actually enrolled}, so even though I wasn't even top 10%, I got in. So don't worry about GPA, cause you're probably better off than having a decent GPA at a bad school ^_~

2200 SAT is high for Berkeley; however, I believe the UC's care about GPA more than test scores as GPAs reflect the success of your entire high school career rather than how well you can cram for a single test.

With that being said, ~3.6UC is quite low.. and a 780 in Korean means little if you're Korean. I'd say Cal's a reach if you're applying to engineering or chem and a slight reach elsewhere.

South Carolina - White Male - (Junior Year)

GPA
Unweighted GPA 4.00
Weighted GPA 4.86
Class Rank 11 out of ~350
(Class rank should be pulled up a couple of places before admissions next year)

Out-Of-State (South Carolina)

SAT Reasoning Scores
Math 770
Critical Reading 650
Writing 790
(I should be able to get the CR up to the upper 700's - I just screwed up on the test the last time I took it.)

SAT II Scores
Chemistry (scores not yet recieved)
Physics (test not yet taken)
Math II (test not yet taken)

Which college are you applying to?
either Engineering or Chemistry
(I am interested in possibly doing something in the nanotechnology field)

List a few of your most important ECs
Wrestling Team (since 7th grade)
- Team Captain
- awarded MVP (Jr. year)
Cross Country Team
National Honor Society (community service stuff)
Rotary Club (community service stuff)
(There are a couple other things I can't really think of right now, but even still, I know my ECs are pretty weak. I'm definately going to try to have some more to list before I apply.)

Other
selected for South Carolina Governor's School
South Carolina Boys State (should be able to attend this - interviews are next week)

Assuming you indeed bring up your CR score, I think you should be a very competitive applicant. ECs and grades look good. Although all Berkeley oos applicants are a crapshoot, I'd say you have a good chance of getting in.

Asian girl from #4 high school in California.

UW GPA = 3.65
W GPA = 4.1
SAT (CR, M, W) = 690, 700, 710 (2100)
SAT Chinese = 790

Still have SAT IIs and APs coming up. Most like APs will be 4/5, and SAT IIs will be over 700.

Took Chinese AP last year (5); I'm taking APUSH, AP Bio, AP Lang/Comp this year. And I WILL take AP Stats, AP Gov/Econ, and AP English next year. I can guarantee As and Bs for all of them.

Piano CM level 10

1st place Chinese composition competition

placed for Bay/State FBLA Comps (Business Law)

I'll be taking some classes at a CC this summer. I know I can write a good essay.

What are my chances at: UCLA and UCSD?
- economy or business major

Junior Transfer from OOS community college.
3.6 GPA. Same GPA with my science/math classes.
Computer Science major with prereqs.

What's the deal with OOS Community Colleges? I saw some statistics comparing Cal State community college acceptance rates and 4 year transfer acceptance rates but no OOS community college acceptance rates.

Also, if I need 1 more writing class to have all the transfer prereqs, will I need to tell them "I plan on taking writing during the summer" or can not say anything about it and they will just tell me I am accepted only if I take that class?
