Hello, i am in the top 5 % of the class. We do not have a GPA system and hence i can’t give a figure.
i scored 2130 in my SAT reasoning
750 M
750 W
630 CR
and 1520 in my SAT Subject tests.
800 Math C2
720 Chemistry
My personal statement was good i think because many people told me it was moving and to the point and says a lot about me.
Chance me anyone ?

I’m an international student from Pakistan. One of the only two applying from my school.

My transcript and expected grades are mostly A+ and As and a B or two.
Top 10 % of my class
My O levels result was 6 As and 3 Bs
Im on a merit scholarship at my school
I have Accounting, Business studies and Applied ICT as my subjects.

SAT I score : Reading600, Math610, writing 670 total 1880…(Not so remarkable)
SAT II score Math II 590 Literature 520

 2. sold t shirts and merchandise to raise money for charity

Work experience
Interned at my family business in their accounting and IT departments.
Wrote off creditors books and saw how the present computerised system was being run and helped suggest some minor improvements i learned in school

My essay
I talked about Zulfikar ali bhutto who was UC Berkeley alumns. And how my country has gone to the dogs. And how i plan to turn that around just like bhutto did. As I have a business family behind me, i plan to help the poor. By openibg up schools and charities. One of my most discussed points was that i want to open a bank that will issue interest free loans without any physical collateral to pledge. this will be financed by my family’s already flourishing business. I talked about how my life’s experiences as a pampered child made me more empathetic to those who arent blessed in the same way i am.

thats the jist basically. My SAT scores arent that remarkable. But my school grades are plenty good and i think my essay’s pretty well off too. It doesnt show signs of emotional scarring. It shows that without any trauma to myself i can still feel for people and i plan to help them any way i can.

Please chance me. Dont be brutal =P. i scared enough as it is =)

zackaw: Your GPA is really good, you have a pretty good chance.

1etoile313: Awesome GPA, test scores are okay, chances are decent.

Alright, I’ll hop in.

Positives:

CCC student. Junior transfer for fall 2010.

Major: Philosophy (however in my PS’s I stated that I want to double in psych/phil)

Norcal resident.

GPA: 3.74 (UC-transferrable) 3.76 overall.

Personal Statement: I would say it was solid. probably 8/10.

Upward trend semester by semester comparison: 1.0 (thank god for Academic Renewal…) -> 3.3 -> 3.3 -> 3.7 -> 4.0

E.C.'s include: 120 hours working with elderly at an assisted living center. 25 hours tutoring kids. 3 part-time jobs in the past 2 years.

Negatives:

I’m young (18) so that may hurt my chances.

Indicated in Personal Statement that I intend to go to med school, and I’m thinking that may hurt my chances because I have none of the requirements done other than the year of English :/.

Put Psych major for every campus except Cal (so that may look fishy).

GED certified (no hs diploma).

Please let me know what you guys think! I screwed up horribly in high school, and in my first semester at my CCC, but have been working my hardest since then. It would be pretty amazing to go to my childhood dream school after being a high school dropout just a year and a half ago. (I explained all of this in my second personal statement).

Thanks everyone, and please let me know what my chaces are!
