What sort of merit scholarships do Cal offer? Does it have a full-tuition merit scholarship? I would like to know this since I am an out of state resident and financial aid is a very important factor.

If you do not live in California and need significant financial aid, Berkeley is not the school for you. There is a ~11k OOS fee PER SEMESTER, which will almost certainly not be covered in any financial aid you get.

I’m gonna give this a shot. I wuv berkeley :D

I have heard that you can be accepted at either UCLA or UC Berkeley but not both. Is this true?

I know people who have been accepted at both, and to my knowledge, LA and B do not communicate admissions decisions to each other. Considering the sheer amount of apps both receive, I imagine that would be impossible.

u can be accepted to both. and the person above is right. there are too many applicants to communicate to each other on which ones should get in where. a girl last year got into both at my school and was very proud of it lol thats all i remember

On my essays:
I talked about (for the essay about the ‘world’) how I am Indian (both parents are immigrants) and about how although my family is very traditional, I have adapted to American culture and have drawn the best aspects from each, creating a unique individuality. I also talked about how the traditional Indian male’s goal is to get a good job and provide for his family and how, being influenced by American society, my goals are loftier; I talked about how I want to make a large impact on the world and how I can use the facilities at Cal Berkeley, including the student body, to make these changes.

For the second essay, I chose to write about an experience: I wrote about a Robot Competition that my Engineering Physics class was part of and talked about how the experience allowed me to learn about hard work and teamwork. I also discussed the flaws of our project and about how we were not organized. I parlayed this into a paragraph about how I have learned to become a better leader and have realized that in order to organize a group, I must be able to take criticism for better or for worse in order to advance the group - I also talked about how I can use the newfound leadership in order to be a leading figure in the Cal student body.

By the way, I applied to Nuclear Engineering for all that it’s worth. If I do not get into Nuclear Engineering, will I be referred to another program or will I just be rejected?

Thanks and Please reply/chance me!
