dietcoke14: You need to calculate your UC GPA yourself. To do this, go here:

http://www.californiacolleges.edu/admissions/california-state-university-csu/gpa_calculator.asp

As it stands, I'd say Berkeley's a reach - strong ACT, and average GPA, SAT IIs, ECs, and honors/awards. Being OOS makes it much more difficult. You do have a good shot, though.

Useful link, Thanks!

vicissitudes: if you dont mind answering, what major are you?

how is my GPA average when its 4.0 out of 4.0???
lol

^^ Did you not look at this thread at all? Your GPA is average *for Berkeley/I. It by no means is average on an absolute scale.

no..
im sorry
im didnt know we had to put our UC gpa

and my school doesnt weight GPA
so the highest is 4.0
idk

i didnt mean to get you annoyed or whatever

Sorry, didn't mean to be snappy. At any rate, I wasn't talking about UC GPA or weighted GPA. I was talking about UW GPA. Also, it'd be a good idea to calculate your UC GPA and W GPA when you post chances threads/posts -- it helps others to assess your chances.

dietcoke14: great GPA, great ACT score, good SAT IIs, decent ECs. I'd say ~60-70% chance.

^^ Did you not look at this thread at all? Your GPA is average for Berkeley (I've said this multiple times before). It by no means is average on an absolute scale.

No it's not. The average unweighted GPA is around a 3.8.

By asking me that question you are assuming I am in college. ;)

vicissitudes: since you are knowledgeable about all this cal stuff i assumed that you were. but i guess you are either: 1. a current student, 2. an alumni, 3. faculty, 4. a faculty alumni. Another guess is that you are/were an engineering student. just wanna confirm my curiosity. haha

way to be mysterious, vicissitudes

Haha, I'm just kidding guys. :p

Let's just say I've had experiences with a lot of random science classes. I don't like to divulge personal info publicly but if you must know, PM me.

UCantTouch9Feet: reach
UCGPA is low, SAT close in range but SAT subjects are low, I wouldn't send them your AP scores, where's the EC, as in community service?

UCantTouch9Feet: I agree with knguyen142 that it's a reach -- the UC GPA is a bit low, the SAT is about average, the Spanish SAT II is somewhat weak, and the ECs/honors/awards don't really distinguish you. If you make your essays really great (perhaps showing a reason for a subpar GPA), you'd have a better shot.

UcantTouch9Feet: your GPA's a little low, SAT score is okay, SAT II scores are okay. ECs are a little weak, I don't really think Berkeley cares that much about 3 years XC/Track (everyone does sports in high school) or church mountain retreats (unless there's more to it that I'm missing). I'll say ~30% chance.
