well technically, since the earth orbits the sun, and we're all on it, the first person to orbit the sun isn't really that big a deal

Really! I thought Sun orbits earth:p

Copied it from from last to last year's thread, so i am not responsible for the goof-ups:)

Again, I get the letter in the mail before the online decision.

Waitlisted.

I know I am MIT caliber, but the temptation to go to MIT is gone. Olin, here I come!

sorry mathwiz, but that's the right attitude to have. Good luck at Oberlin.

rbanerjee..it's not oberlin. it's olin! one of the best eng. school in nation, or at least in a few year.

ummm... Olin, not Oberlin.

Actually, I'm kinda glad I was waitlisted. If I had gotten in, I would have seriously considered going to Olin anyway. Being waitlisted is kind of like a nudge in the right direction.

mathwiz,
Don't forget the price at Olin - free tuition!!!!!

That's not what grabbed my attention.

Olin has ~70 kids per class (and no grad school), which translates into so many opportunities. Classes are ~15 people. Endowment per student is $1.5 million. Olin faculty were taken from places like MIT, Stanford, Harvard (probably 95% from one of those three). And I mean from the MIT, Stanford, and Harvard faculty, not classes. You actually do hands-on stuff in classes, something I haven't seen anywhere else. Dude, they have oscilloscopes at the desks for each student in every class! Olin is just that cool.

Oh NO...... if someone with the screen name "mathwiz" who has already been accepted at Olin was waitlisted.... I am really not feeling too good about my chances!!!!!

[li]Your thoughts on your decision: I was waitlisted because of Tufts syndrome... :-P[/li][/ul]
Any other comments: Makes the decision to go to Olin a bit easier.

did you get your letter already?

yes i did

dude my bad, i don't know why I thought oberlin was the same as olin. Good luck!

I kind of find it amusing that while Early Action is meant to give kids their decisions sooner, here I am 5 months after submitting my app, still waiting.

hey but if you get in off the waitlist you can say you got in the real way!

(EA -> deferred ->waitlisted -> accepted)

so letters for domestic applicants were probably mailed out on the 15th itself.

How do you guys know how good your recs were? Did the teachers show you them? I hope my are good, but I never saw them.

our teachers let us see them if they wanted (not if we did), my counselor showed me her rec the other day actually, and it was really good, i think for most people though you have to rely on your teacher to do a good job. but hey you cant take back the recs now, right? so dont worry about it, just put on your seatbelt and get ready to click that button!
