1moremom, I know i should get going, but I am not sure about the timing. Does anyone know when housing gets assigned to current students for the fall?

I don't think the RA will be able to do anything, I was going to call the housing office (or whoever is responsible for sorting the rooms) to express my situation, but I haven't narrowed a phone number or person yet. I don't even know if they will be willing to help me.

The assignments go out in mid to late July. They won't even know for sure who will be there for the next few weeks.
As long as you requested a specific area you have a reasonable chance of getting in there, (I predict you will get into south as west is very popular), when you have your new room, if the noise/roommate situation is bad, you should then go to the RA and either work out something or apply for a room transfer. Give your roommate a chance but do not wait too long.
Also the SLO idea is good, however have you actually changed your major to engineering yet or are you still in bio?

SLO's are great bu it is not somehting I am interested in for next semester. I think I will call the assignment office shortly after classes are over. If the rooms are only assigned in july, I don't think I will be able to influence them this early.

Once rooms are assigned it will be more difficult to make things happen. I still think an SLO might be your best bet if living in a more academically-oriented environment is really a priority of yours. There would be other benefits, as well.

Are you in the COE? You can get in touch with the--
