[]Teacher Recs: Really good
[]Counselor Rec: Probably decent
[]Supplementary Material: Athletic form (swimmer)
[]Interview: Not really very good actually...I didn't really prepare very well, probably came off as pretty awkward

I am international student and so far I haven't received anything yet? Does it mean they just forget about me?

[/ul]Subjective[ul]
[]Essays: People who have read them said they were good.
[]Teacher Recs: I'm assuming they were good.
[]Counselor Rec: I'm also assuming it was good.
[]Supplementary Material: None
[]Interview: None
[]Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): None[/ul]Personal[ul]

[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Goes to show that test scores aren't everything when it comes to college admissions. Hell, I got waitlisted at MIT too. Congrats to everyone that got in and hopefully we waitlisted people will get in in May![/ul]

[size=+1]Accepted/size

Stats:[ul]
[]SAT: 2110
[]SAT II: 800 (Math 2C), 720 (Phys)
[]GPA: 3.68 UW, 4.16 W
[]Rank: Smething like 60/500
[]Other Tests (AMC, AP, IB): 5 on Calc AB
[/ul]Subjective[ul]
[]Essays: Common essay was about trends in LD debate; supplemental essay was about copyright law & alternatives to registration formalities. Definitely one of the stronger areas of my app.
[]Teacher Recs: presumably good
[]Counselor Rec: probably a bit impersonal -- I barely know my counselor
[]Supplementary Material: worked URLs pointing to web dev/programming projects into my essays; also sent athletic supplement
[]Interview: went fairly well
[]Hook: programming/web design work, LD debate accomplishments, essays (see above), big course load[/ul]Personal[ul]
[]Location: Northern CA
[]High School Type: Public; moderately competitive
[]Ethnicity: White/European
[]Gender: Male[/ul]Other[ul]
[]Extracurriculars: Lots of programming/web design work, LD debate (very actively), administrative work on en-Wikipedia, independent philosophy studies, school newspaper (webmaster/tech editor/writer), cross country, track, boy scouts, marching band, some work experience w/ technical consultant
[]Awards: NFL All-American Award, NFL Degree of Superior Distinction, a long list of LD debate accomplishments, [Local HS] Service Award, Nat. Merit Commended, CSF
[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Guess it was a combination of impressive tech work, unique/relevant essays, and good luck that did it for me. My grades were rather mediocre overall, but stronger in the "important" areas. It definitely wasn't my class rank or SATs![/ul]

ACCEPTED

reason: Level 3 unicycle

extracurricular: ACT 34, MATH II-800, US-780, Chem-740

still nothing from HMC.........
i have sent them like 6 or 7 emails..they didn't answer any...
THEY TOTALLY FORGET ME........

You're a level 3 unicyclist, grashapa1? That is very exciting. I think I used to be able to get that far. That's quite an accomplishment.

Wow, it's good to see unicyclists applying. If anyone is coming to ASP, PM me and maybe we could do a ride.

S was accepted. More later. Did anyone get a letter about the Mudd Merit Award in their package (the $10K)? Wondering if that means he didn't get it or if it is coming with FA...

10 characters

CountingDown, I got a little notification that said I got the merit award in my acceptance packet. If there's nothing in the FA packet I'd call them up.

A little bit of good news for you waitlisted people - I won't be attending. I really really do like Mudd, but I ultimately like another school better. Best of luck guys/gals!

Accepted

Stats:[ul]
[]SAT: 2270 (800 W, 760 M, 710 CR)
[]SAT II: 800 Math II, 720 Chemistry
[]ACT: 35
[]GPA: 3.97
[]Rank: 5/550ish
[]AP Tests: Human Geo (5), Calc BC (5), Calc AB (5), Chemistry (5),
[]This Years APs/APs I didn't test for: US History, Statistics, Lit and Comp, Physics, German
[/ul]Subjective[ul]
[]Essays: Much better than what I submitted to my other schools. All I can say is, be creative and try not to repeat your stats ... I think that my boring essays killed me at MIT.
[]Teacher Recs: My Chemistry teacher is probably world renowned for writing amazing recommendations. My other one was decent too, though I didn't see the final product.
[]Counselor Rec: No idea. Should have been decent though.
[]Supplementary Material: eh?
[]Interview: None.
[]Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): Haha, No. [/ul]Personal[ul]
[]Location:Colorado
[]High School Type: Public. Amazing, talented community, but sends only about 2/550 to Ivies every year. Someone went to Mudd last year, but I don't really know him.
[]Ethnicity: White
[]Gender: Female[/ul]Other[ul]
[]Extracurriculars: 4 Year Varsity Swimming, Church Youth Group (no leadership though), 2 Years of Volunteering at local science center, 2 Years in MESA/Math Competitions Club, 1 Year Drumline /Spirit Band
[]Awards:National Merit Semifinalist, Colorado School of Mines Medal of Achievement in Math and Science, School Chemistry recognition award
[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Very surprised that I got in after being rejected by MIT. I guess it goes to show that essays can make a big difference! (My MIT one was written in one night...to all you juniors out there, don't do that! Even if you always do that for your english class, it doesn't work on college apps. Even engineering schools put a lot of weight on the essays, and a good essay needs some serious time. In other news, I officially have no idea where I'm going now. I have 1/2 tuition scholarships at 3 schools, and then there's Harvey Mudd and UVA which are both awesome, but haven't offered a whole lot yet (I did get the Merit Award, but that still leaves me at 40K, which is much too much!)[/ul]

Accepted

Stats[ul]
[]SAT: 2350 (800 CR, 800 M, 750 W)

[/ul]

Subjective[ul]
[]Essays:
Main essay: wrote about how I value agreement and sympathy. Most people who read it liked it and I feel I gave my best.
Supplemental essay: Wrote about my favorite food, which is a Korean variation of fried chicken. I had fun while writing it and people generally liked it as well.
[]Teacher Recs: One from my English teacher from 10th/11th grade, and one from my math teacher from 10th/11th/12th grade. Both teachers really liked me knew me well, so I'm pretty sure the recs were great.
[]Counselor Rec: Not sure, but my counselor knew about me well enough for me to assume that the rec was good enough.
[]Supplementary Material: Music supplement mainly consisting of some music I'd composed as a hobby during my time in high school.
[]Interview: None
[]Hook(recruited athlete, legacy, Nobel Prize): None that I can really think of... [/ul]

Personal[ul]
[]Location: South Korea
[]High School Type: Private
[]Ethnicity: Korean (international student)
[]Gender: Male [/ul]

Other[ul]
[]Extracurriculars: Some that I emphasized were a math camp I attended last summer and a music listening club I founded in 11th grade. There are more, but I can't manage the tenacity to organize and list them all right now, sorry. :(
[]Awards: Among a bunch, I emphasized a bronze medal from the Korean Mathematical Olympiad... to be honest, that isn't as impressive as it sounds.
[]Advice?: Just be yourself. Don't let college admissions constrict you and enjoy high school life! It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
[]Bragging: Got in with FA! :D[/ul]
