First of all, congrats to those who were accepted. You should be very happy right now (and I'm assuming you are from your posts!). Also, I'm sorry to those who were rejected... I wish you best of luck with your applications! I know what it's like to be filling out apps during christmas break. My recommendation is to choose the "write an essay on any topic" option with as many apps as you can! :p

To those who were deferred, don't give up hope! Actually, last year, I checked my decision at 7, and when I found out I was deferred I went straight up to my room and slept until 7 the next morning. After that, it was down to business. My counselor called the local representative to ask about me within a couple of days of the decisions coming out. From what he said, we decided that the best course would be to send in some more recommendations to show a different side of me. My original recs were from a science teacher and a history teacher, so I got recs from my theater director and my music teacher. I also made a CD to send to them of my singing, but I sent it in late and I don't think it was considered in my decision. Anyway, the best advice I can give is to contact your local rep and see what's up. Best of luck to you all either with Duke or any other college that you plan on applying to.

gpa and sat's are subjective numbers used to compare people, and most/all duke applicants have numbers like that or better.

Hi,

I also was deferred from Duke and I am devestated, but your story was inspirational! How did you manage to get in after being deferred? Any tips would be appreciated!

Hi,
I just got deferred from Duke. I think it's because my scores are not quite up to Duke's level (my ACT is a point out of their range). Any suggestions on how I can keep fighting and get in?

I'm from MA too, i was wonderign which HS you go to.
