Seeing this thread made me both nervous and excited!

I can not believe its only a month away, and though I am sure there are going to be days when it will feel insufferably long its insane to think that this is it in a way… in both good ways and bad ways; a lot of us have put in a lot of work for a long time for this (why we are here being a different matter all together).

Best of luck to everyone!
I really hope we all end up in the right place and that through this experience we will find many opportunities that will give our lives purpose, fulfilment, passion, and joy.

Hey if anyone receives any letters or emails pleaseeeee…post it up,i know some majorss get invited to this invite only open house event…i know they send them for architecture majors (my major) …so i don’t get one then I’ll know i didn’t get in to UCLA

@cayton, I want to specialize in internal medicine and sub-specialize in either gastroenterology, cardiology, or oncology still trying to figure it out. But yeah I would love to be a surgeon, so I have at least 8 more years to go after college haha.

It’s fine, I’m taking 12 units in what I hope will be my final semester here. Contemporary Moral Conflicts, Political Philosophy, American Art History, and Native American History are the classes I’m taking.

I’ll miss SMC quite a bit with its great instructors and beautiful campus, but I won’t miss some of the people there. I don’t know if you’ve ever noticed this, but there are quite a few weirdos at this school lol. And for some reason, I attract them towards me. Maybe I’m just unlucky.

The parking is terrible, I agree. Thankfully, I don’t drive to SMC.

I planned on double majoring in history and philosophy once upon a time, but now I only want to major in philosophy. If possible, I would minor in history at UCLA, but they don’t offer it as a minor for some reason. :/

@Zalrons

This page describes the required classes for the philosophy minor and how to add the aforementioned minor.

Everyone takes 100A during your first quarter. Literally all admitted philo majors are in that class. In addition you generally take one extra philosophy class of your choice. 3rd is usually an elective. I’d take a class you might be interested in majoring, just incase philosophy isn’t your thing. CC philosophy is a joke compared to UCLA philo

Awesome! That’s very pre-law of you And I’m considering minoring in Public Health at UCLA, if admitted. Haven’t really decided into that yet though.

@Cayton

Yeah, UCLA doesn’t offer a History minor but UC Berkeley does lol. I guess that’s a con for UCLA, right?

Invest in a laptop, writing with pen in CC was a breeze, the professors talked slow and gently. At UCLA, these guys talk so fast, I couldn’t keep up with pencil and missed a lot of the points. Typing has been much better for me. Also I record the lectures via my Macbook to listen back to.

@cayton, thank you that’s very nice of you I know I have plenty of time to make that decision haha. Ugh I can’t wait to finish college, and finally attend medical school!
