@GreatestThe, I did get into UCLA, but I truly hope everything goes well for you :). Don’t lose hope UCB is next week, try to be positive!

@macsaid if you don’t mind, I have a couple questions about transferring from uci!

@GreatestThe

I see now. Here are the reasons I think why you got rejected in UCLA:

1.) if you took classes from another country which the university is accredited by United States, your grades (GPA) from that school will be counted towards your GPA (in CCC) here in United States (I think ONLY if they are transferable - not sure).

2.) there might be something in your personal statement that was not appealing. I don’t really know what UC wants from students when they say “good” personal statement. Why did I say this? When you say “good” personal statement do you mean a perfect student with high GPA and lots of relevant EC or a student in disadvantage with around average GPA (by major) and still have some EC or both?

Do the appeal in UCLA man - always do something instead of giving up. I hope you get in. If not for some reason, there is still UC Berkeley

@cayton, you seem to be the person that knows a lot about the UCs lol.

do you know what are the best housing options?

@dwencel24 oh man if those grades are counted then yeah that’s definitely why. That is so depressing, because I was in a shooting and that scared me, couldn’t go to class, but I mentioned this in my PE.

:(

@GreatestThe

I know that there are lots of universities around the globe that United States accredited. That is why some people can practice their profession here in United States while others cant.

I cant even imagine myself in that situation. If that is the case then, I will definitely appeal. First, ask them the reason, if possible, why you got rejected. If they say it, just let them know your reasons. After your conversation with them, ask them how can you do the appeal, what to do in the appeal, and when this is due. And remember talk to them nicely - lot of students are forgetting their place due to the rage of rejection.

Goodluck man.

@randombookie

Thanks, but I hate to disappoint you…I don’t know much about housing options. We’ll just have to find out for ourselves, lol.

Then again, there are some UCLA transfers who roam this forum who can answer your question. Hopefully, they see your question and respond.

Hi everyone! I’m new here!
So I go to 2 community colleges at the same time! Talk about crazy!
Major: Pre-History
GPA: 3.694 (3.7)
Prerequisites: About to finish my last 2 this semester
IGETC: Will finish this semester
TAP: UCI only
Accepted: UCI, UCLA, CSULA, CSUDH
Rejected: none, I only applied to 4
Dean’s Honor (Full-Time) for one community college, Dean’s Honor (Part-TIme) at another
ECs: Volunteering at a youth center as a tutor; member of a QSA club and a literature club; I also write poetry
I honestly only applied to UCI and UCLA as a long shot. I didn’t think I’d get in! But I did and I’m proud of myself!

@hmkufan5

Glad you got in! I hope to see you at UCLA this Fall!

Thank you! I’m still deciding where to go this fall.

@hmkufan5

UCLA. You won’t regret it. :D

Are their any other OOS students who are struggling with how they can afford UCLA? A few years ago my dad had medical issues and we have been recovering financially ever since. I’m thinking of appealing for more aid but I don’t know how successful it would be.

Ah how I wish. I have to see which school will offer me more aid. Right now I’m deciding between CSULA and UCLA.

lol UCLA no contest. Especially if you’re doing history.

I wish it was that easy to decide UCLA really is my dream
Financial aid is my biggest issue

Have you checked your provisional award letter? I’ll try to help if I can since I wanna be there for my fellow pre-history bros.

@hmkufan5 I’m also a history major and financial aid is my biggest worry too. It would be so incredible to go to UCLA, especially after attending two different 4 year universities that aren’t even ranked for their history departments.

Shout out to the admitted history majors here. I used to be a history major myself before I switched to philosophy. If I could, I’d minor in history at UCLA. Unfortunately, they don’t have a minor. think I’ll still take one or two history classes there, though.

UCLA’s history program and classes are great. You guys will be in good hands!

Oh you’re a pre-history major too? Oh, that would be so helpful! Thank you!
