Whats the deal with admissions? I was told I would find out no later than the end of may, today when I called they said they were notifiying transfers at the end of june!?

Anyone waiting for financial aid awards, I checked online and mine was available. I had to create a pin and sign in here <a href=“GWeb and Banner Services Outage | GW Information Technology | The George Washington University”>GWeb and Banner Services Outage | GW Information Technology | The George Washington University. I hope yours is available as well.

THANK YOU mr. president!

I just checked my aid and am literally in shock. GWU is giving me $45,500 of the $56,000 in scholarships and grants, the rest is completely covered in two different loans.

I visited GW this weekend and had a really great time. This, plus the aid, has made my decision pretty clear. I’ll likely be seeing you guys in D.C.!!

I sent my transfer application in just before Valentine’s day for Fall 2009 transfer admission, since I was applying to another school with a deadline just after February 14. I am a prospective transfer to the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences for my sophomore year. In mid-May, GW lost my college official’s report. However, when I re-sent the college official’s report, I also took the time to send an updated transcript. Here are my stats:

-3.75 college GPA for one year
-Normal course load, except no math or foreign language classes
-31 colleges credits at time of application (High school transcripts and SAT scores are not looked at)
-Just inducted into my college’s honors program (more rigorous coursework next semester if I don’t transfer)
-Co-founder and president of my college’s dance club

Do you think a stand I chance at admission?

Clarix917,

I had the same situation occur last year when I applied. Unfortunately, they had filled all the transfer spots but were willing to transfer my application to the next semester… which means I will be attending GWU this fall!

Statistically you look like a very good match for GW but admissions isn’t purely statistics. If you didn’t call regarding the Dean’s Report I would recommend you do and, at the same time, reiterate your desire to attend GW.

Best of Luck!

deborah–

they don’t ask for your high school grades, which is wonderful cause mine were ■■■.

How does everyone’s “transfer credit worksheet” look? GWU has given me full credit for every course I have taken, however, the majority of my courses have “VT” in front of them. Does anyone else have this and know what it means? For example: “VT/intro to gender studies” as opposed to simply “General Psychology”.I should contact a transfer admissions counselor but just thought about this today.

Honus123,

My transfer credit worksheet gave me credit for all of my courses except for 1 where it had the VT designation, another where there was a call number GW apparently doesn’t even use, and roughly a years worth of IB credit that sadly wont transfer.

Called my adviser and was told that VT is just the designation for variable topics and if I wanted the credit applied to a required GCR or thought it should be classified otherwise I could fill out a petition form (would need to supply the syllabus, explain reasoning, etc). I would recommend speaking with your adviser to confirm this is the case.

I wouldn’t think Gender Studies would be converted to General Psychology though, as they are two entirely different topics.

Thank you for the response, I’ll call a counselor tomorrow.

Oh, and I know gender studies won’t convert to psychology, I poorly worded my post. I was trying to show a comparison of how GW put “VT” in front of my gender studies course but not my psychology course.

Is anyone still waiting to hear back?

Has anyone been able to access the housing page yet? Mine keeps saying access denied or that my account has expired every time I try to access it yet everything else seems to be working.

MJISMYFRIEND, you should call housing immediately. My daughter had this problem when she tried to log in to housing last week when transfer housing opened. She actually got to talk with a live person in the housing office who corrected the problem quickly and easily. There is likely nothing wrong with your account or anything of that nature, but it won’t be corrected, I’m guessing, unless you call and talk to someone.

My friend and I are both applying to GWU from our college. Neither of us have heard a thing regarding a decision. I was told on May 26th that I would “hear in 2 weeks”…they have said that at least five times!

Still Waiting…

1travlr:

had they already received her deposit before you could log in? how were you notified when they had received your deposit? i sent mine in two weeks ago and still haven’t received a response, tried calling admissions cause i wasn’t sure who else to call and was put on hold forever.

clarix917, They’ve said the same thing to me lol. The other day when I called they said they were going to have an admissions couselor call me. This was like 3 days ago. I’m so anxious! I submitted my application in Marchhhhh

tshudel:

Spoke to two different people yesterday. One guy in the admissions office said that they were all ready to look at my application. When his explanation didn’t suffice, he put me through to an admissions counselor. The admissions counselor told me that they are not really reviewing any more apps because of “unprecedented transfer demand”. He claims that there were 10x more applicants in a single year, which is a sheer lie. Approx 1800 apply, 800 get in, and 450 enroll, according to collegeboard.com. Do you really think 18k applicants all of a sudden decided to apply??? Check the link below:

The admissions counselor offered to roll over my app to spring transfer admission. I told him that was alright, but now im having second thoughts. However, he cannot do this until I send him a signed letter, which I will not do. Why should I? No official decision has been made!

As always, my GW Activity Center still says “Under Review”

I sent in my application a few days before Valentines Day haha!

Hey I applied from a mediocre liberal arts school to GWU with a 3.72 gpa, great recs, some ec’s and an ok application, (I did talk a lot about how much I love GWU and how the Obama was at the school the day I visited). I sent my app in right on the deadline, April 1st I think. Well At the end of May I discovered that they were missing the college official report that hadn’t even popped up on the application status check. I sent that in and around memorial day weekend I was told I would hear within a week. Well finally this past week I got tired of checking the website 5x a day, so I called. They were very helpful and I talked to an admissions counselor who started giving me the whole talk about the record number of applicants and all the stuff the usually say before a rejection, but to m surprise they accepted me for the spring '10 term! I am so happy and I’m pretty sure I’m going to go. Now, my application page still says under review, so I suggest that everyone if you haven’t heard by now. Good Luck!

Just a few minutes ago, I heard the same thing on my app! Congrats!
