@ImWaisian not as far as I know of! I haven’t gotten an email from the field hockey coach yet!
@cmbyn02 The email that received indicating that I was invited to pre-season was not from the WoPo coach. Instead, you should expect a email from the Interments Director of Athletics, David Hudson.
How many days prior to register/move-in day do you guys plan on getting to the town of your respective schools? Also have you guys booked plane tickets yet?
@livelaughxc Personally, I will be driving up to Exeter with my parents a couple days before pre-season.
@livelaughxc My family and I are flying up to Boston a few days before move in to buy everything, because we live so far away (15+ hour drive). Then we will drive to Exeter!
I know this isn’t related or anything, but do you guys have a new CC format too?
Yes. Announced in the following thread:
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/2148512-our-fresh-new-look-is-here.html#latest
I’m the only day student here, so I’m wondering: Do any of you think you’ll want to bring so much stuff you won’t be able to fit it in your car?
Also, if you’re not from the Northeast: Some older packing guides say not to bring winter clothing until after Thanksgiving break… Last year, we had a huge snowstorm here in NJ right before Thanksgiving break, and some of my friends at L’ville complained that they weren’t adequately prepared. Don’t be them.
Hi! I’m a longtime lurker, hope you don’t mind me popping in!
I’m definitely very worried about move in day. My family’s planning on arriving a few days early to check out the town, since we’re a fair distance. @ImWaisian I’m not planning on summer work this year… or well a little bit, but not to the extent of previous years. I sorta thought a break was requisite after the harsh admissions process and the stressful decisions process.
@confusedaboutFA As I’m a boarder, I’m planning on bringing fall-appropriate clothes to fall term, coming back to winter term with a set of winter-appropriate outfits, and then coming back for spring term with spring-appropriate outfits. If I brought everything at once, it wouldn’t fit in my closet, I think! Your advice might be good tho… I guess I’ll be packing some winter necessities just in case of an early winter! sigh Just when I’d thought I could have an organized closet…
@RedLioness I’m in the same boat as you and I’m prematurely stressing out about move in day. Are you planning on ordering dorm stuff ahead of time and having it delivered to the school or are you going to buy everything when you arrive in town?
Also, between registration and orientation, can anyone speak on when exactly we actually get situated in dorms and have time to unpack/decorate and get last-minute essentials?
For all who are stressing as to what to bring to BS, here’s a very nice list.

On a side note, the dress shirts are dress code specific so if your school has no dress code, or has a stricter dress code, feel free to modify for your own personal use.
@livelaughxc as to when you have time to set up your dorm, it really depends on how your school sets it up. Here is last years PEA schedule.
https://www.exeter.edu/sites/default/files/documents/18-19-Orientation-Reg-Schedule-2.pdf
Basically they allow you to pick up your dorm keys at 9am and then you need to attend meetings starting around 2 on move in day. We always got there right at 9 and scrambled to set up everything up. We sometimes would go buy missing items that evening and drop off the next morning.
@livelaughxc I’ll do a little bit of both, I think. I’ll probably bring the sentimental room decorations (stuffed animals and pictures and the like) with me, and then when we get there, I’ll buy more common things. I’m hoping to get a bookcase and maybe a few posters out of that!
Wow, thank you for the links @ImWaisian and @vegas1 ! They were very helpful (even if that thread on Exeter packing lists is a bit too much for me to digest in one sitting)!
Thank you guys! I’m actually headed to Andover, and just to be sure, parents leave after the first day right?
Happy July 4th everyone!
and happy release of stranger things 3
i’m having so much trouble because i want to bring everything! and then i remember a dorm is 2 square feet
@ffsophiar - don’t freak out…but do plan strategically for bringing the necessities for fall term and leave the winter gear at home for now. Your parents can exchange items during Fall Parents Weekend or Thanksgiving break. Do leave space in your dorm room for all that stuff you will eventually order from Amazon ?
@Golfgr8 yeah, those dorm rooms are small. I’m not even sure how the necessities are going to fit or how I can actually add character to the room without encroaching on my roommate.
