It’s just hitting me now that my youngest baby is leaving the nest early. My only girl too. My ex-husband has been sending me the calendar invites for move-in day and as such, I find myself getting emotional. Any other parents on this forum, how do you deal with this?
@petrich0r so true!
Anyone got accepted at St. George’s or knows something about the wait list? It’s my top school and I’m waitlisted, anything I can do to improve my chances? Also, the email they sent me says the think I can succeed at their classes and contribute to the community.
@lulicardoso The waitlist letter is a general letter they send to all waitlisted applicants. My DC got the same form letter.
I’m so happy reading about the ones you guy got accepted
Oh, at SG as well?
Yes, the letter I’m referring to is my child’s waitlist letter from St. Georges
My daughter was accepted to SGS, and we also received a very nice phone call from the head of admissions today congratulating her. It’s a great school, and I have my fingers crossed that you get in!!
@soo2024 It all honesty, it feels surreal. I never thought a boarding school would give a random kid from a tiny, southern town a chance.
With the beverage of your choice.
There are a lot of threads dealing with this common emotion:

@schools1234 DD hasn’t decided. She loves Winsor and didn’t expect to get into Milton. How do you feel about both schools?
@ChoatieMom Thank you so much!
@ens2006 we are warm weather hometown too. I sent you a PM.
I am! I’m coming in to the class of 2024. Also, my brother is a current Taft student (class of '23). Can’t wait to see you at Taft!
Anyone else considering The Thacher School? It’s such a beautiful campus, so sad they can’t hold revisit days.
In fairness to BS boys: My female child, who grew up in the South, lived through 4 New Hampshire winters without owning gloves, hat, or scarf. She owns socks though.
“It’s New England. You’re SUPPOSED to be cold!” is the best my incessant nagging has gotten out of said child.
I loved Winsor as well! I also, even though I got waitlisted, expected a rejection from Milton. Winsor was sticking in my mind so I’m guessing that that will be my choice!
@GoatMama - FWIW my Southern Kiddo does not wear any of the gloves, hats, or socks that I have sent up to school! Has only worn BIG down coat a few times. Needless to say, I was overly cautious and overly prepared! Don’t dress your kid like the Michelin man!
Lol everyone out here talking about clothing options-- ig i’m lucky, culver has a strict uniform, so I don’t have to worry about it whatsoever.
Yes. Yes it is a terrible way of coping with it.
You could still get off a waitlist, and frankly there’s more to life than those two schools. It’s kind of insulting.
And frankly, having this sort of attitude can spill over into your non-anonymous life and bite you in the butt, and not just if you are reapplying.
