The Official M10 2021 Freakout Thread

thx!

very true ,I talk to my friend all time about college admissions and i’m never stressed because I’ve applied to the top highschools in the us which is a very similar process to college apps so colleges apps see u in 4 years :sunglasses:

My literal worst nightmare with this is the school I commit to being over enrolled, so they have to like “unaccept” me. I know it’s highly unlikely, but I heard about a similar thing happening with some colleges. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what happens if a school over-enrolls?

Take less the next year (like hotchkiss?)

I highly highly doubt that will happen. You have nothing to worry about .They always find the space

Also, those of y’all on the gc may (or may not) remember those messages I sent which stated that I was WLd primarily due to FA.

For some reason, the more I think about, the more I feel that this reasoning doesn’t sit well with me; I feel as if there must’ve been something else contributing to that decision, as well.

They double up/find the beds/seats and adjust with the next year’s admissions offer. No admitted student ever loses their place. You can let that one go.

They typically sort out the dorms to accommodate the higher-than-expected influx of students. They, by no means, rescind anybody’s acceptance letter just because of overenrollement. And, as @hopefulkid123 said, they’ll simply accept less people next year for that particular class.

Good point. Offers can be rescinded for serious grade dips prior to matriculation (rare), but never due to overenrollment.

Yes, and as for grade dips, it’s only for very serious examples.

For example, one or two Cs will not rescind your acceptance letter. However, say you, all of a sudden, end up failing like half of your courses (without a reasonable explanation), then eyebrows will be raised…

The people in my community preferred the college journey during Covid. Schools going test-optional was a big part of it. I feel like it lifted a lot of weight off people’s shoulders. You could be the smartest applicant ever but you bombed the SAT (this year factored that out).

For test optional (as opposed to test blind) colleges, not really.

What choices are you looking at? Have you decided? If so, which one? :grinning:

Anyone else going to Loomis? I had a tour yesterday and I think I’m going to commit!

nope full pay so that doesn’t help my decision

Haven’t decided. Currently between Berkshire, Deerfield, and Taft. Leaning towards Deerfield but have a few hesitations.

What are your hesitations with Deerfield?

Similar to above haha but the dress code is by far the strictest. I’m also concerned about location it is very remote and there is not as much around for weekend activities. I’m also curious if there is a bit too much structure/rules. I also think their sports are amazing but I am a bit worried I won’t make varsity because the caliber of the athletes is so high.

calling @Golfgr8 to help out @bostongirl123 with any deerfield hesitations.

Haha they’ve already answered quite a few questions for me I think they’re tired of my name popping up asking about Deerfield lol.
