The Official M10 2021 Freakout Thread

Sorry my answer was worded weirdly. I meant many kids from Darien/Fairfield County go to Deerfield so it is intrinsically Deerfield country.

Sorry, meant Fairfield County, I was initially going to type that but replaced it with Darien and forgot to take out the “County”. New Canaan, Greenwich, Fairfield, Darien, Southport etc. are all Deerfield territory. I lived in Fairfield until I moved to California and I can tell you that Darien is the real center of Deerfieldmania.

Ahhh got it

about to commit to beau soleil!

Hey guys! Hope everyone is doing well!! I was kinda curious if anyone knew anything about this but I’m wondering how much geographical diversity matters in admissions decisions because currently I’m living in a state that not a lot of people go to bs but my dad’s job transferred him back to Massachusetts again so we’ll be moving at the end of summer. I’m wondering if that affects any of my acceptances since I will no longer be from an underrepresented state?

I’d say overall geological factor isn’t a big difference. If you’re qualified to get in from the underrepresented location, your qualified to get in from Mass. Unless the school is on condition to bring in kids from more diverse areas. Then your competing against nobody in that UR area, and 100% acceptance should your application be appealing. Don’t stress too much on what you can’t change. Present what you can. Location doesn’t define a candidate eh?

Thanks that makes me feel better! I don’t think any of my acceptances were conditional on location and I guess when I change my address in the fall the school probably won’t remove me from classes lol.

If you have already been accepted to schools moving makes zero difference. No school admits someone and says it’s conditional on them not moving.

Geographical diversity is a very minor plus. Out here in the middle of the country, several qualified kids were rejected from the “tippy top” EC boarding schools, and those who were accepted would have been so wherever they lived.
