*The Official Orientation Thread*

LoL. 10 char****

I don't remember the statistics of students being virgins limited to girls only. I think the statistic was based on the entire student body and not just one sex. I have to admit that I was surprised by the number of virgins; I expected the number to be lower. Damn you MTV for making me believe that everyone is having sex! ;)

yeah i remember during orientation, this guy was asked to guess the %... he kept guessing the lowest one and got it all wrong until there was one left. and when asked why he thought it was so low he replied something like "I guess from experience from high school."

i got into ucla as a comparative lit major, but i want to change my major, am i going to end up with comp lit ppl, cuz thats not what i plan on doing..do i tell them that i plan on changing my major?! i dont know what to do..

one of the points of orientation is to meet new people. so it probably won't be very likely that you'll room with your friend.

don't be shy. It's ok to room with a stranger for 2 nights.

Or 2 strangers :)

metting people is what makes orientation fun. ok so the first thing that ppl ask is "where are u from" and it usually takes off from there.

changing majors should be easy.. u need to fill out this form. ask ur OC for more details.

It looked to me as if the rooms were decided by last name. For example, my last name starts with an "X" and my roomates' last names were Xu and Wu. I think rooming with someone new is a good thing because it was a great way to meet new people. I got along great with my roommates, and I wouldn't have met them otherwise since they had different majors than me.

You will probably be in a group that has the same or similar major. You just have to tell your orientation counselor when he/she is advising you about what classes you should/should not take that you are planning to change your major. If you don't know what you want to change it to, you should probably just concentrate on taking some GE classes. Also there are workshops during the 2nd day about majors/minors. They give you information about major requirements, etc. Just go to the ones you're interested in.
