@Ecthelion: I didn’t apply to MIT - I wasn’t interested in any tech/engineering schools.

A friend of mine - also got into NYU Lib Arts.

Joiya550 itna bhi nahin hai my brother is in his second year there. UCI is a great school; granted it’s majority Asian but has an excellent engineering department. It was a smart choice for my brother, and it’s a great opportunity for anyone fortunate enough to get in. That said, the place does have diversity issues…

Rejected by MIT. Doesn’t feel that bad. I just hope that whoever took my spot truly deserved it and will make good use of his/her opportunities at MIT.

I think a lot of the most racist people I know are Pakistanis… just sayin’

@INERT101: As much as i would want to deny it, my past four years experience proves that to be true. Hell I am kind of disappointed when i am at my family gatherings and i hear my elders talk about certain ethnic groups of Pakistan. Whats sad though is that this very racism is prevalent in our generation too. And dont even get me started on homophobia…

Yeah, but the thing is that these numbers are ridiculously low.

For instance, the Caltech, Sheffield and Soton offers I added are all mine. And I added the Sheffield and Soton offers only because I was already editing it to add my Caltech offer… I still haven’t added my offers from the smaller UK universities. If I speak about just my school (KGS) the thing is that so many people get into these places that no one wants to do the khwaari of counting them. Thus when it says (1 KGS) its a gross misrepresentation.

The thing is that by now, everyone at KGS knows that I got into Caltech and Oxford, but no one knows that I even applied (and got in) to Leeds, Liverpool, Southampton and Sheffield. Similarly there are many more people who got into these places jin ka hum ko nahi pata.

(PS: I definitely didn’t intend to brag - I don’t think you CAN brag using an anonymous profile - but I am quoting my example just as a case-in-point).

mushoo’s right, I won’t even have a complete list of acceptances for KAS until they’re all counted in April and I edit it into the school yearbook. But even then it’s just such a large amount it’s complete khwaari to keep adding them to this list. I mean I even know of some right now that I’m too lazy to add.

@Ecthelion: Hopefully our studying abroad and maybe coming back to Pakistan can help spread understanding and openness in the country.
