Thanks@All those who congratulated me.

And heartiest congratulations to Lily_91!! As an MIT rejectee I’m definitely interested in your stats (and as a Caltech acceptee, I’m interested to know whether or not you applied there haha). Insha’Allah see you next year as part of some hack/prank ;)

My stats were:

SAT1: 2240 (700R, 760M, 780W)
SAT2: 1600 (Physics and Maths Level 2)
A-Levels: AAAAAA (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics, General) from Karachi Grammar School.
Also, Honourable Mention in International Physics Olympiad 2009.

wow man, CONGRATULATIONS to you too! =D =D HELL you have amazing A-level grades; people I know can’t manage three, and you have 5 a-levels :expressionless: Scholarship?

@everyone who wished me, thanks a bunch!

The decision for a gap year resulted from a few series of happenings in my life. I’m actually a resident of the United Arab Emirates, but I did my A levels in Pakistan. And to do this, I had to sort of move away from family in U.A.E for those 2 years. So I decided on spending some time at home before going away to college. this was just one reason =]
But my gap year has been awesome; i literally had no worries (apart from getting into college of course:P) and I’ve been doing what I did not during high school. Reading is an example.

About statistics and other imaginable factors for getting into MIT, let me be very clear. I did not get into MIT because of my stats or the gap year (for me, I believe the reason is my beloved ones’ prayers =]). but for everyone else, i’ll recall the terms “holistic consideration” here.

anyhow, my stats are as follows:

SAT Reasoning: 2090
SAT Subject Tests: 2320
A levels: AAA
AS: AAAAAA B(yes ICT screwed me with only 2% As in the world :stuck_out_tongue: )
IGCSE: 6 A*s, 2 As
Olevels: AA (subjects not offered in IGCSE)

I’ve done significant work (in fact, as much as I’ve done in my academics ) in leadership/organizing, debating, math and science olympiads, basketball, henna designing, community service and in being a crazy MIT fan during my high school career.

@mushoo: I did not apply to Caltech, but Congratulations! I’m sure you will thrive there. And yes, I will most definitely look out for those hacking opportunities once we are there inshAllah. =]

P.S: sorry if my post got long and bland!

Fixed certain formatting issues.

For all those that update the list, I know all of us here appreciate the information and the effort but I would appreciate it if all those that update the list would stick to the standard formatting of the list (i.e. place commas in the appropriate places, don’t give spaces where they’re not necessary). Thank you.

Also, I’m glad to hear about the MIT acceptances. Seeing that MIT’s international acceptance rate is about 3%, that is certainly a big achievement. So, congratulations to all those that received acceptances.

Hello, friends from across the (dumb) border! Heartiest congratulations to those accepted at MIT and Caltech
All the best for the upcoming decisions :)

Hey gary7, thank you for the kind remarks.

Just out of curiosity, how did you guys fare with MIT? What about early acceptances to the top schools?

Great Stats…btw I really think IPHO honourable mention made u stand out in the application pool…

BTW lily_91 stats make one thing clear that SAT’s are what MIT considers.Last year there was also a MIT acceptance with 1900 something SAT score…

Congratulations lily_91 (that’s quite a list of accomplishments) and everyone else!! The more pakistanis at amazing schools, the more pakistanis will be there to keep the pakistanis at amazing schools company! it’s great to know some of you have been accepted to schools like MIT and Caltech- do some amazing research and make us proud :D

Samtjt I sort of dont agree with your statement about MIT. You say that MIT gives teh SAT a lot of weightage, when in fact the SAT is but a precedent. See many American nationals score well on the SAT, and on average an applicant to MIT has a 2200 above, so to American nationals the SAT is given considerable importance. However for us internationals the SAT is used more as a benchmark than a way to judge an applicant and that is shown by last years 1900 acceptence.

Regardless Congratulations to all from Roots who have gotten into MIT, inshAllah i’ll be joining you aswell!
