I am UTTERLY BEWILDERED by the THREE offers from MIT to Pakistani students. Awesome, you guys!
Also, I applied to MIT but now, looking at your stats, I feel stupid, how I could have even imagined of getting in MIT. The rest, except Oxford and Cambridge, I am not EVEN remotely impressed.

Congratulations on getting into the universities you got into. But, there’s no need to undermine ther others’ achievements by not being “even remotely impressed”, not that people here are trying to impress you.

People got into the likes of Stanford, uPenn, Yale, Imperial and UCL, and all you’ve got to say is that you are not impressed.

@Juggernaut- I know only 3 who were not accepted(2 on cc) and 1 waitlisted. All had at least a silver medal at an international olympiad it seems
About early acceptances- we had one at Brown, one at Stanford, and other LACs and safeties to the best of my knowledge. Waiting for this month to end so that we can share more good news :)

no no no…I am sorry…I forgot to mention the other unis…U see I was so depressed with my own rejection that I forgot abt the other unis…I said I am not remotely impressed but I think I am jealous of all the people who actually went (or are going abroad) rather than those who failed to even after trying…I am CONFUSED as to what I feel right now…

Nobody going to Berkeley? I was rejected last year with 8 A’s at the A’level. Curious to see what sort of stats were actually accepted :p

Although this has already been addressed, I’d like to briefly comment on what mohammadeht said.

To begin with, you’re entitled to your own opinion. But, it is utterly rude and against the spirit of this forum to come out here and blatantly disregard the achievements of dozens of those that are represented on this forum. As Pakistanis, we need to harbor a collective sense of achievement - many of us will someday be at the forefront of our nation’s industries, governments and organizations. Please act in a mature manner so that all of us here can express our sentiments while still feeling good about ourselves.

Well, elaborating on what Havylevel said, after a certain point SAT’s aren’t really that important. Besides, if you’re an amazing applicant otherwise, your SAT is pretty much ignored even if it’s below 2000. Colleges want people who will be successful, not people who know how to answer a couple of multiple choice questions, although I wish it were more like that…

And mohammadeht, dude, seriously? I have to say though, I really am very jealous of all of you people who don’t have to worry about not getting in anywhere.

@hookedongtown: Woah! Where are you now? Harvard? =P
@Mohammadeht: Nevermind. I’ve found that Jealousy is in nature of us Pakistanis :)

@talaltq If you said that last comment just for fun, it seriously isn’t that funny (judging by that emoticon of yours!)

@Inert101 What was that last comment of yours supposed to mean?

And, for the last time, I apologise to anyone whose feelings I might have hurt with my previous comment!

@mohammadeht: The emoticon is a SMILEY face, which I put there so that you don’t feel more bad since you were Sorry. As for the jealousy bit, that’s an unfortunate fact that we can’t deny.

Guys, guys!!! Lets not start lynching!!! Take the high road…:D:D:D

I wonder what all you CC people look like…

@Ecthelion

Agreed…

I am wondering that too

@talaltq I did feel “more” bad when you said that. Jealousy is good in a sense considering it makes the people who are jealous try harder next time. So I, for one, think jealousy is not so bad as we make it look like.

@mohammadeht: Considering the last few comments, I dont think we welcomed you properly. WELCOME!!! Waisay i kind of agree, the list seems a bit intimidating, and as much as i try not to, I sometimes feel my heart saying " You Lucky b******s!!:D:D:D"

@inert: I would so share my facebook username here if others do that =P I like connecting
@Mohammad: Yeah that’s not called Jealousy I don’t exactly know what it’s called in English haha, but it’s RASHQ in Urdu, and Jealousy is HASAD, LOL Anyway, welcome to the forums, and I hope all goes well now =)

@inert: I wish we all knew each other! It’s almost like we do, except we’d never know who the others are in real life!
