The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2015

@ catjedi… subjects: physics and chemistry. and i applied to MIT, amherst, williams, swarthmore, the needblind ivies(except yale) and brown.

you got deferred to RD brown or did you apply again ? Harvard too ? well best of luck this time 'round! :)

No i didnt apply again, i got deferred to RD. And yea harvard too :p

yeah, good luck!

i doubt aid was the only reason for deferral though. i know several people with strong stats who were rejected from Brown even while not requesting aid. Brown might be a bit picky about who they give aid to, but they do have the money to give it out, and so they’ll always be more keen to take the stronger applicants, irrespective of financial need. JMO.

what are your stats btw ?

^ are you asking that of me or qwerty?

anyone wanna compile another list somewhat like the SAT one? we can rank schools we wish we had applied to. the schools with the most ‘wishes’ (;)) will rank near the top. add to the list of you want to.

UC Berkeley (1)
Rice (1)

I am asking both :P

UC Berkeley (2)
Rice (1)
Yale (1)
Brown (1)
Lehigh (1)

UC Berkeley (3) I am gonna curse myself forever
Rice (1)
Yale (1)

Lehigh (1)
UCLA (1) HOLLYWOOD!!! :P

UC Berkeley (3)

Lehigh (1)
UT Austin (1)

UC Berkeley (3)

UCLA (2)
Rice (1)
Yale (1)
Lehigh (1)
UT Austin (1)
Williams (1)
Amherst (1)
USC (1) … If only it were on commonapp :(

@speedyz, i’ve got 8 A’s in O levels and 4 in A levels with pretty high percentiles but sadly no distinction due to an unlucky incident during a chem practical…
SAT I: 2200(superscored)(CR650, M800, CW750).
SAT II: 780 physics, 780 math level II

wow nice… is giving the SAT once considered a good thing or bad? or is giving it many times and getting a high superscores considered a good thing ?

because I gave it once and got a 2030… wanted to repeat in jan but coudnt… all seats gone… and none on standby…

well most colleges say they look at our superscore, so that must mean that they dont care if we’ve taken the sat more than once. although taking the sat more than 3 times is bad, one should try to take advantage of the superscore thing and, in case they didnt do well on the first take, take it another time.

Schools We Wish We Had Applied To

Rank= 1. UC Berkeley b**
Rank= 2. Brown, UCLA b**
Rank= 3. Rice, Yale, Lehigh, UT Austin, Amherst, Williams, USC b **

– For the benefit of the 2016s. :)

@speedyz: the area around UCLA is nowhere near as nice as Hollywood. but, then again, you could say the same thing about the area around Berkeley–pretty terrible.

well the suspense is killing me =P

500th post !!!

I beat you to it! :P
