The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2016

IA you ll improve but I am stuck with mine :frowning: … hopefully it ll be enough

Thanks! If your other grades are fine it will be okay. What was your overall score? Did you take lit and lang in O levels?

Since your math score is above 700 don’t worry about the SATs.For engineering, I believe the math subscore is considered a better predictor of success than cr. As long as the math score is above 680 you are fine.

well my math score is 800 ( 790 Math II… SAT 2 ) … so yeah I hope so … and well straight 9 A’s O levels… 5 A’s A levels ( 1 A* in Physics )

so nobody has applied to Princeton in here or they didn’t have their interviews yet?

well you guys are getting Interview calls already ?

well if i’m not wrong Princeton usually conducts interview as soon as possible, everyone gets one.

BluelovexD, who are you talking about? I know a friend of mine who is in BDC, applied to Stanford ED and couldn’t get in. He had nearly perfect SAT I and SAT II scores.

Does anyone here know anything about American liberal arts colleges that have religious affiliations? You can take Luther College, Calvin College and Brigham Young University as examples. Are they worth going to? Or does the religion factor make life difficult? Any help will be appreciated.

@Shahan03 Beaconhouse Defense Campus Lahore?
Karachi Grammar School’s Dep head boy.

People in KGS has been having their interviews right now.

Also for your second post, the religion factor might make it awkward at times.
And if they are super conservative (you’d need to check up on this) I’d say don’t go, esp if you’re a Muslim.

Where else did KGS students get ED acceptances from? Yes, BDC does refer to Beaconhouse Defense Lahore. About your reply, why do you say that? Isn’t it better if they’re super-conservative? An alcohol free campus would be nice.

2 from Yale, one from Penn, 2 Cambridge offers and I think that’s it.

Have any other Pakistani’s gotten offers from Oxbridge?

I’ve applied to Princeton…no offer for interview yet  Yikes!

Already had my Harvard interview tho, very okay-ish…

Guys, I’ve asked this question before but didn’t get an answer- does getting Cambridge awards (in my case AS-levels) add something significant to an application?

@leo, well you might hear from Princeton soon enough, and about Harvard interview, well last i heard was and it is supposedly said that Harvard conducts interviews of only short listed candidates in country like ours, not that I’m sure of it, just saying what I heard or read.

That can’t be true LOL. I got an offer for an interview only 3 weeks after submitting my application…by then how would they have had the chance to skim through all the apps?

But thanks for giving me some…hope  haha XD

Any luck with your apps Usama? Had the MIT interview (forgive me if horribly I’m out of touch!)?

Yep, had MIT’s on Jan 3 but with a different EC, had my Princeton’s last Saturday i.e 28 Jan. MIT’s decision would be the first to come out around March 14th I guess, rest of the decisions come out on April 1st. Lets just hope everything goes good.

Usamatiwana: Keep us updated with the progress that you make.
leo118: I think they do. In fact I think they add a significant bit to your application. It shows that you’ve excelled at what you have done. The university research that I did taught me that universities look for quality and not quantity and a Cambridge Award shows just that. What was your award, by the way?

@ usama- GREAT! InshaAllah, its all gonna pay off =D
But personally, I’m really worried about why I haven’t yet been offered interviews for the other unis…aaah, never mind…

@Shahan03- Thanks for that =D Although I realise noone at CC, or anywhere else for that matter can guarantee they’ll make a big difference (as in translate into one acceptance out of five apps), I just needed some reassurance that they’ll matter a bit.

I got a Top of the World Award in English, Top of the UAE in economics and Highest across three subjects, all for AS-levels.

Dunno if ppl here have gotten like 5 or 6 of these, but I’m literally over the moon XD

leo118: Quite impressive. Best of luck with everything. Gave LCAT today? If yes, how did it go?

LoL, dont sweat it, interviews are not like something very essential and the only time you dont get an interview call is if the college/uni doesnt have an alum in your residing area. So I’m sure there is nothing to be worried about.

@Shahan will do mate. But I dont think I’m one of those who’s progress might bring some good news any soon :P
