Post your queries as you apply for undergrad at US colleges!

I have applied ED I to Middlebury College, so I was hoping someone would chance me based on my credentials.

SAT I: 2090 (CR 770, Math 640, Writing 680)
SAT II Math Level 2 + Physics: awaiting scores

CIE O Level grades: 6A, 1A, 2B
A Level transcripts contain consistent As and the occasional A

Common app essay: Excellent (based on feedback from my counselor, seniors etc). Based on football, my strongest co curricular
Supplement: Middlebury doesn’t have a writing supplement

Counselor rec: I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard he writes really good recommendations.
Teacher recs: One is from my O Levels English teacher and that’s excellent. The other is from my current Physics sir and that’s really good too.
Peer rec: My friend at Swarthmore College wrote a peer rec for me.

Co-curricular activities:
- Football - Member of the school team, member of the local football team, former member of MTFA. Have won numerous trophies including the Punjab Olympics
- Debates/MUN - Member of the school’s English debating team. Have reached a couple of tournament finals. Ranked in the top 10 speakers in some tournaments. Won a Best Delegate award at a MUN as well.

- Acted in the Annual Play of my school back in 10th grade
- Member of the school’s media society
- Former member of the school’s table tennis team

I got called for an interview with an alumni and that went really well too.
I’ve asked for a huge amount of aid, just btw.

What do you think my chances are? I am skeptical about my SAT score.
Also, has anyone else applied ED I to Middlebury College?

tbh your profile is not bad however the aid will definitely lower your chances. Middlebury also admits students who have an average SAT score of above 2130 so that might hurt too. Anyways best of luck

@isminho what school are you from?

I had an 1850 SAT Score. Got into NYU Newyork’s Core Program with 25000/year merit scholarship.
Don’t ever think your SAT Score is low; it isn’t.
@Stellarqueen NYU is SAT optional In any case, CONGRATS!!!
@AltoLime Innit, but I did send in my scores and opted for consideration. There’s more on my plate though; I was deferred by UChicago with that score. I’d still emphasize: low scores don’t mean downright rejection…
Thanks for thecongrats! Woo!
Hi guys I just wanted to ask that does the name of your college actually matter,I.e. does a KGS student has more chance gaining admission in a good foreign university than someone from a less reputed college with similar stats.
yes. the school you go to does matter. it tells the admissions officers about the rigour of academics, the competitiveness of the student body, and the plausibility of your ECA’s. that is why students from the reputed schools are normally the ones that get into top universities. but of course, you should not take this to mean that the reputation of your school (or the lack of, thereof) will be the deciding factor in your admission.
OK thanks
This helps me a lotm
