The Official Penn State questions thread

There is just one a day and I think it leaves SC around midnight, arriving in NYC very early in the a.m. There is some question as to whether the company will continue the run. My son takes a Chinatown bus from Boston to New York several times a year and hasn't had a problem, though there was an article in the Globe last year that was less than complimentary about the service.

Is it easy to get an off-campus part-time job during the Summer in State College somewhere close to campus? I want to have a part-time job after my classes during this Summer.

Are the placement tests timed and can I apply for the IST program when I get to penn state this summer? If not can I apply any time soon and when can I expect an answer for finanical aid from penn state??

Placement tests are timed. I took them this Sunday. Financial aid comes out some time late-March. I don't know anything about the IST program.

Is there any chance of getting into the main campus at this time?

Your chances are slim to none. A waitlist has already been started.

Are any of the EE curriculum courses taught online only vs the traditional classroom setting with a Professor teaching the class?

I just got a new phone today. Who do I contact to update my information?

lil_killer-

Students with eLion accounts can update their information there. Students who do not yet have eLion accounts set up should contact the Registrar's office to update their information.

I'd like to hear people's opinions on PSU's history department. Strong, weak or somewhere in between?

Is there a questionaire to fill out to match us up a roommate? I don't want to be stuck with a pyscho!

lil_killer, roommate match ups are done randomly. The only way to control who your roommate will be is to request a specific person (who also has to request you).

Do most people request a specific person as a roommate, or do most people let it be random?

My D and her friend from H.S. have already arranged to be roommates. All of the others at her h.s. who are going to U.P. already have roommates. My niece, who is a freshman now, did not have a roommate going in to the process but arranged her roommate via Facebook last spring.

My son does not have a roommate and is looking at this as an opportunity to meet someone new. He has applied to one of the SLOs.

I am currently developing a plan to eliminate my roomate.

Is he that bad? You only have a few weeks left, right?

it isn't that he is very bad. It is just that we are complete opposites, and there are clashes of interests all the time, which makes it seem we are living in two separate rooms. Let's not go there though.

Frasi, are you staying at PSU?

"Eliminating your roomate?" Pretty drastic :)

yes, weren't you considering transfering to "gasp" Ohio State?
