"Living in Antarctica certainly is.... ?"
Thats how colleges are able to say we have students from all 50 states.

"Ethnicity & Gender: White Female
Major strength/weakness: No hook?"

Hahaha.

heh... bryan... i suppose i see your point. i guess i didn't think TOO HARD bout that one... but still. i really am quite a plain, unoriginal white female. I am sure that it is still quite selective for us white females, and i don't know why I was chosen as opposed to the other (i must believe there are in fact others) white females there...

-top 3 in Univeristy Interscholastic League (UIL) in Mathematics since 6th grade at both District/State levels
-Intel Semifinalist
-Various state level awards in piano
-National Merit Finalist
-300 Hours in community service at our local soup kitchen
-Spent majority of summer doing research work at the University of Texas at Austin Chemical Engineering Department (I guess this goes hand in hand with Intel, as aforementioned).
-President of NHS; President of Mu Alpha Theta; Vice President of chess club. For NHS I took it upon my own responsibility to seek out and work collaboratively with other local organizations to help solve the homeless problem in our area. I thought this was semi-unique because it showed leadership.

-I took 11 AP classes throughout my high school career, and I received 5s on all the AP tests I have taken so far.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I gave it my all in these. I really thought it reflected my natural intellectual curiosity and motivation in academics, a quality that I thought
MIT was looking for.
[] Teacher Recs: Very good. Calculus teacher regarded me as "the best student in [her] career."
[] Counselor Rec: Astounding.
[] Hook (if any): None
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Texas
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Asian (Indian to be specific)
[] Gender: Male
[] major strength/weakness: Science is my strength.
[] why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: Weak SAT score; poor rank; not Intel finalist. I was not the type of student MIT was looking for.
[/ul]Other Factors:
Congradulations to everyone who made it. You all truly deserved it. Best wishes to you all.

I guess RSI doesn't guarantee admission to MIT.

nothin can gauantee MIT... juz drastically improve ur chances probably

dmvp29: ur sats are NOT weak, neither is ur rank poor....seriously.. well there is no gaurantee for mit though ur stats look grt but well...
i am sure u got inot other gd colleges... :)

i think he was being sarcastic...

u will be surprised how many ppl think 1510 is poor...

dmVP29: I dunno but there's something wrong going on. You were denied admission to Northwestern, Harvard, Rice and MIT with RSI?

You are bound to get into at least one of those with RSI (which again, does not guarantee admission anywhere but will certainly give you a slight edge), and your stats aren't bad at all.

Hmm.

I agree with h88. There is no way you can be rejected from all those schools if you had RSI. Something is wrong. I would email CEE if I were you.

okay - hoax. . he posted the exact same message on the Yale, Harvard, and Rice boards and apparently he only got into the University of Texas @ Austin - "which is great since I live there so it will be very convenient for me, but I didn't really want to go there."

So you have no research experience? What were you doing in RSI last summer?

From my knowledge, there were only 2 people from TX last year who were Rickoids, and none of them were...indian. It's a lie. The poster claims he is "Ethnicity: Asian (Indian to be specific)"

To be selected into RSI is an accomplishment in itself, it proves that you can get into the top schools in this nation.
