wat the hell is the pt man!! makin up stats to provoke sympathy??
look at my stats, i did not get in and i am fine with the decision and and i guess so are most of the ppl who did not get in...

ye, MIT is far from my mind right now too...

too bad i got rejected from everywhere also

yeah, i got rejected from everywhere else as well :o

This whole process makes me think of people lined up outside a hot nightclub in Manhattan waiting to be 'chosen ones' to get in. Or...

Maybe one just needs the 'it' factor...who will be the next Collegiate Idol?

I didnt want to post about myself until I am sure where I am going. I hope prospective students will find this helpful.

[li]Essays: I honestly conveyed my deepest feelings and dreams.[/li][li]Teacher Recs: Both were excellent.[/li][li]Counselor Rec: Superb[/li][li]Interview:[/li]Great. I know he could tell I had found MIT to be my match and that I really wanted to be at MIT.
[li]Hook:[/li]SATs, passion in computers, and well-roundedness. I exhausted all the opportunities my school offered me, searched for more on my own, and exhausted those, too. I sent in a CD containing a Flash (interactive multimedia) program which teaches kids how to sing nursery rhymes through a bouncing circus ball, lively animations, and sounds. I coded the program and drew all the graphics from scratch.
[/ul]
Personal:
[ul]
[li]Location: Thailand[/li][li]Ethnicity & Gender: Asian female[/li][li]Major strength:[/li]See Hook above. Clearly defined goals and interests.
[li]Major weakness:[/li]My weakness is the lack of national and international awards. Because my school follows the American curriculum, I couldnt compete in national competitions, which are based on the Thai curriculum. Plus, national and international contests were rarely announced to the students.
[li]Your thoughts on your decision:[/li]Many qualified applicants who seemed to be perfect matches for MIT werent admitted. I feel very lucky. Im sure youll do great wherever you end up at.
[/ul]

Nice. :)

Congrats on your acceptance.

Thanks! :)

Any other comments: I was so stunned I actually called my interviewer up and asked him why they had accepted me and he said that MIT isnt a school of robots and they didnt want 1600/800/800 nerds, they wanted real people and that my personality, sense of humour and that kind of stuff had counted in more
