[]Essays: My main essay was pretty good. I did the one on failure and talked about swimming. My other essays were okay. I wrote about how I love Nintendo, hehe.
[]Teacher Recs: I didnt see one of them, but I think it was good. The other one was really bad because she used a template. It was generic and impersonal, but she checked all the boxes for one of the best in my career.

[/ul] Personal:

[]Location (State or Country): NJ
[]Ethnicity & Gender: Taiwanese Female
[]Major strength/weakness: Im very involved in music and swimming. My weakness would be my SAT score.
[li]Your thoughts on your decision: After being deferred, I didnt think that I had much of a chance. I think the main reason I got accepted is because Ive worked really hard to take as many challenging classes as possible. My school is really small, and not too many students take AP classes. I have to take AP chemistry without lab credit, but I make up all the labs on my own. Also, I take AP French V as an independent study this year and have to stay for 7 periods instead of the usual 6 for seniors. Over the summer, I studied physics independently with an AP Physics teacher. Ive never been absent from / late for school before. [/li][/ul] Any other comments: Im really honored to be accepted. For students applying this year, dont take the numbers too seriously. If you just get yourself involved in activities you enjoy, you will stand out. Best of luck to you guys (and gals, too, of course!)

[]Hook (if any): Not really. I just never found out about research or anything until it was too late to do it.

[ul]
[]Location (State or Country): WI
[]Ethnicity & Gender: White female
[]Major strength/weakness: I got 3 Bs last semester, even though all of my classes were weighted and my GPA actually went up, it probably did me in.

**Any other comments: I was really involved with a lot of extra curricular stuff: co-Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, played volleyball three years, exec board key club, freshman mentor, class council, NHS, and I had a job for over a year where I worked 15 hrs/wk +...I mean, I really don't blame myself for this. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. *

anijen21:
you sound like an outstanding individual. I am sorry that MIT did not accept you in this class, but it is certainly not a reflection on your worth as an individual and a student. I am sure you will find a school well suited for you and that you will be a success. It is OK to be sad right now. But something great will come soon, I can see it. Good luck to you. I'm rooting for you.
