Hoping that the envelope from Oberlin will arrive in WA today, and that it will be a big one.

The envelope might not be big but still contain good news. I remember last year the acceptance letter from the college was not one of those large envelopes with housing info, etc., like those from many other schools.

Good luck to everyone. By the way, my son's stats were quite unimpressive compared to eveyone else's on these threads and he still was accepted by both the College and the Con.

Waitlisted :(

I think my GPA is why.

I'm sorry :(

for those who were accepted....is the envelope big, or little?
for those who can login to presto - how was PIN assigned....we have the "T" number - but no "PIN"...
Thanks.

MomMary, S received a big envelope today. I don't open mail from schools he applied to--only ones he didn't--so I'm only assuming that it's good news.

Congratulations and condolences,

I was really expecting it to come today. I'm quite sure son will be accepted because he got a "likely" e-mail months ago. Tomorrow I guess...

Your thoughts on your decision: I feel pretty good about getting with the free campus visit offer because my SATs were pretty bad. I'm probably going to Syracuse Newhouse though...

(Never got likely letter but for they sent me so many things in Jan....course books and whatnot).

DS received admissions offer in the mail today, here is WA state. Also John F. Oberlin scholarship. Very happy.

Wondering why I haven't heard about the John Oberlin scholarship...Can anyone help with this? Surely my stats are good enough...

Did you find a separate envelope from the financial aid office inside the big envelope that the admissions came in? That's where the scholarship details are.

ACCEPTED
30 ACT
4.2 Weighted GPA 3.3 Unweighted
Amazing Rec's and Essays.

My son just received in the mail, a small envelope....he's not home, so I can't open....but please tell me - does this mean he was rejected? Did ANYONE get ANY good news from Oberlin - in a small envelope????

I can't speak for others, but DS's Oberlin acceptance was in a fairly large envelope. His 2 waitlists were in small (business sized) envelopes.

Son finally heard from Oberlin. He's in and was surprised to get a John Frederick Oberlin scholarship. He has a strong legacy connection through his Dad and is qualified stats wise and got a "likely" e-mail, so we figured he was in, but I never count on anything until it's in hand.

The envelope was large, it had a fair bit of stuff in it- acceptance letter, scholarship notification, financial aid details, accepted students program, etc. So I can't say for sure, but I'd guess a small envelope isn't good.

Sorry MomMary - saw your post on Colgate as well - we got two small envelops today as well - it does not augur well - my son was waitlisted at both Colgate and Oberlin

We're pretty stunned here. Son's sister was accepted at both schools 3 years ago.

It's possible it's not the decision letter, but just another letter telling about Oberlin and/or a paricular program or opportunity. Don't give up hope!
