*Decision: Accepted!! *

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT: 700 CR 620 W 600 M
[] SAT II: 680 Literature, 460 French (My French class is more on comprehension than on grammar, hence the icky score. I just didn't care.)

[/list][ b]Location/Person:[ list]
[] State or Country: Maine.
[] School Type: Public. Most kids go to state schools. Not really a magnet.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Smith obviously seems to care about more than perfect grades and SAT scores. Yay. Congratulations to everyone accepted. Best of luck (and plenty of patience!) to those looking for schools.

Decision: Waitlisted :(

[/ul]Other Factors: Well, I'm an orphan asking for almost full tuition in fin aid. If there's an anti-hook, the money could be it. But this is really my own fault. Smith was one of the first schools (of 18) in my application process and because it was one of the few I sent in online, I don't think I put enough effort into really checking over my app materials. I guess it's not so awful, though. I'm just going to have to work at proving my worth and hope they accept me in a few months.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Congrats to all of you ladies. Dedicate a quesadilla to me at Bueno y Sano. :)

[] Teacher Recs: Good if not great
[] Counselor Rec: Excellent, my counselor knows me quite well
[] Hook (if any): Umm, not really sure. I'm trilingual, my first language having been Spanish (and I take French, which could show them that I did not take the easy route). First generation, participated in competitions, I basically put myself out there a lot and have always been very motivated and passionate about learning. I also think my interview went really well, and paired up with my recommendations, it must have put me under a good light.

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: CT

[] Ethnicity: Hispanic
[] Gender: Female

[/ul]Other Factors:
See 'Hook'

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Congratulations to everyone!! I only posted this stats thing because I know there are some kids not yet involved in the college process who would like to know more about the accepted population. I don't know if my stats seem beyond the ordinary or below it or what, but please do not think that having any kind of combination of the above automatically guarantees you into anywhere. I honestly didn't think my stats would get me into Williams or Smith...and I still don't think that is what gained my acceptance. I think they saw my personality and my inherent motivation, and they knew I'd take advantage of the great opportunities they provide their students. So think about that, and not so much about GPA's, SAT and AP scores. In the end, when they strip all of that away, what is left is you.

Decision: Accepted
