The Official SAT Study Guide (blue cover) vs. real tests

Is The Official SAT Study Guide (For the New SAT) easier than real test (in March, May or June)?

the real test has a much more brutal writing curve than the book suggests.

Yeah, indeed... the book suggest you can make 3/4 mistakes and still get a 800, while in reality you can't make any mistakes

thank you confidential and trinya.
if ignoring curve, which is harder in the writing section? reading section ?

what's even more funny is the one practice test that the collegeboard circulates that's titled "Taking SAT Reasoning Test". I think on that one it says 4-5 wrong with 12 essay is 800. Yeah in reality, from what I've seen you pretty much HAVE to get an 80/80 on MC and an 11 or 12 essay. I have seen some 10 essays also get 800, but for the most part MC curve is crazy on the real one. I would say that everything else is very similar to the test in regards to difficulty. I found some harder and easier than the real thing, (my score fluctuated between 2000-2200, it really was all about the CR, which was easier in some sections while very ambiguous in others). I ended up getting 2090 so the Bluebook is very accurate to the real test.

Thank you vupreuss06.
By the way, I took psat in Oct. last year. I think that the CR in this test is much more difficult than tests of the bulebook. I am correct?

I agree that the bluebook a whole has easier CR sections, but again you get lucky, and sometimes you find CR passages that interest you. Like in May I got really interesting passages. How did you do in the psat? I thought that CR was the hardest on I had ever taken. I had friends who got like two 80's on the other two sections and got like 65 on the CR. It was because the CR had some crazy stuff talking about parapsychology and I got so confused myself (ended up getting sub 60). So if you did well on the PSAT CR in October, you should be good enough to get at least a 700, but of course you still have to study all your vocab and timing is the most important part.

Ive got very lucky with june sat...
at sentence completion I was lucky to know every word...
I hope I have 800...

thank you vupreuss06.
I got 620 in CR on past of Oct. If that test had the same difficulty with real sat test (in March, May or June), you think what my score would had been?

The writing section for the new SAT has such a brutal curve that it loses accuracy big-time. On the May SAT, 3 questions wrong out of 49 (94% correct) gave you a 710 MC score...wow...the cb book makes it out to be worth in the upper 700's when thats clearly not the case.

Now 1 or 2 questions is in the range of 80 points won or lost...crazy
